Why don’t parties of the left reduce inequality?
Research by a @Cambridge_Uni team led by @_Alex_Horn et al sheds light on a paradox: Why does inequality not fall under @UKLabour governments which are expressly committed to it?

Egalitarian governments insure the middle class and support the (working) poor while leaving top-end inequality largely untouched. They rhetorically embrace equality for all, soften market shocks, and avoid imposing fiscal costs on influential groups cambridge.org/core/journals/…

Stattdessen dominieren wirtschaftliche Themen. 1/3🧵

Incredibly happy to see my paper forthcoming in @QJEHarvard! I quantify how much of worldwide growth and poverty reduction can be accounted for by education over 1980-2019. A quick summary 1/9 👇

@_Alex_Horn, @klueserthan & M. Haselmayer review a new dataset of 300,000 party statements to determine whether the Left have traded #EconomicEquality for #EqualRights & #EqualChances. 🤔
