I called the agent of a veteran coach to see if Jerry Jones had even picked up the phone and poked around on him during the Schottenheimer hiring cycle and he laughed and said “Jerry won’t pay 13M and up and that’s the starting point”
It’s well known and well documented just surprised he actually finally said it on record today.
This is fascinating
I can see the vision if (and only if) NC State shells out the cash to surround Philip Rivers with top tier coordinators and lets him be the face
But I can't imagine Rivers has a lengthy rolodex of coaches, so you're doing most of the work for him
An update on Philip Rivers and the NC State head coaching opening:
The two sides are expected to have further communication in the near future and there’s continued momentum at the moment toward Rivers ultimately being the hire, sources tell @CBSSports.
Nothing final at this point though.

It wasn't pretty, but Randy Bennett is 1-0 as the Sun Devils head coach

Sun Devils WIN 75-65
ETSU put a scare into them but Arizona State responded each time and held onto the game
@Echo_Buttes
Dillan Shaw with a dagger from 3 and that may do it for the Sun Devils
@Echo_Buttes
Murauskas going to the line after an offensive rebound and basket, makes it a 10 point lead for Arizona State
1:58 remaining in the game
@Echo_Buttes
Foxwell's free throws put Sun Devils up 66-59 with 2 minutes remaining
@Echo_Buttes
Murauskas hits both free throws
Sun Devils lead 63-54 with 4:53 left in the game
@Echo_Buttes
Somehow this is John Mateer's fault
Innocenti was ruled out for the game but Arizona State's defense has picked it up in the second half
Sun Devils up 55-44 with 11:40 left in the game
@Echo_Buttes
Emmanuel Innocenti comes off the court to get looked at by medical team. Definitely something to monitor
@Echo_Buttes
Taking a glance at the Big 12 scoreboard at halftime and Memphis upset #18 Iowa State
Also.... #22 UCLA up 10 on #5 Arizona 👀
@Echo_Buttes
Not coincidentally, ETSU offense starts putting it together without Innocenti out there
Sun Devils lead 37-31 at halftime

Emmanuel Innocenti comes off the court to get looked at by medical team. Definitely something to monitor

Well that escalated quickly
Sun Devils offense has woken up, going on a run to go up 30-18 with 5:17 in 1H
@Echo_Buttes
Paulius Murauskas gets his first points as a Sun Devil and, fittingly, they come off an offensive rebound
Sun Devils up 20-15 with 7:45 in 1H
@Echo_Buttes
Nine minutes in, the Sun Devils very much look like a Randy Bennett team: sticky defense, methodical offense, lots of rebounding
Arizona State up 14-10 with 10:57 in 1H
@Echo_Buttes
A great win in the books for @SunDevilWBB already
Now time to see Randy Bennett's first game as head coach of @SunDevilHoops
