Among the details of Mary Slusser's wholesale loot of Nepal's artifacts, this piece by @artcrimeprof also lays bare her condescension & consistent sabotage of Nepali scholars so she could access funds and use their expertise herself. Very important read. himalmag.com/mary-slusser-ne…

“What can I say to the river?” In the days after the floods devastated Nepal, we traveled along the path of destruction until the roads collapsed, listening to stories of the people and places no longer there. @binodjourno nytimes.com/2026/09/13/world…

You all are uploading your photos to ChatGPT for a silly trend? Are you all not aware how desperate these AI companies are for this data? Are you not aware that OpenAI and other such AI companies are selling their services to defence departments of countries who are waging wars? Are you not aware that your data will be used to train their models for facial recognition? Are you not aware that various governments, including the union and state governments in India, and its police departments are weaponising facial recognition to surveil citizens?

The Himalayan river systems are the bedrock of the subcontinent being able to support so much population. But they can also inflict disasters like today's. This is why we need cross-country (China-India-Pak-Nepal-Bhutan) coordination, not water war games.

The pushback to the Modi 1.0 regime came within months of it being sworn into office, and it emerged from the student of the Central University, Hyderabad & JNU among others, that had been creations of independent India’s intellectual and organisational fashioning; while Gen Z’s 2026 protests are a breath of fresh air to the battle weary, India’s students in universities have never been silent.. sabrangindia.in/august-11-20…

For all the Kings’ men - senior lawyers, award winning film makers, erudite politicians, progressive publishers, and other well heeled bold and beautiful creatures - a response by @courtinglaw Jhuma Sen, to your varied “feeble” spins to negate the woman’s testimony and undermine the conviction. Prejudice haunts women inside and outside the court.

On one hand, Modi makes insta reels starting with "Hello friends" hoping to reach the youth, on the other hand, the Indian government has systematically increased the suffering that the youth in Jantar Mantar have to go through. Harassment of people wanting to go to the protest site, illegal detainment by police, harassment of people who are wanting to support the protestors, more and more barricading, they don't have internet, they don't have enough food or water, they don't have toilets, forcing the shops to be shut so that there's no infrastructure, no metro, there is no end to how evil this Government can be, and of course this is not the end of it. But more and more people will remember this, if the volcano of anger doesn't burst today, it will burst tomorrow or the next week or the next month or the next year, but it will burst one day, and it will bury this government under it.

Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid are two Muslim student activists from JNU jailed under the draconian UAPA law. But why is the liberal civil society silent when it comes to Imam, @mondalsudipto asks Khalid’s friends. #What’sYourIsm? youtu.be/bW9AE91AFc0

"As the Cockroaches marched and their numbers burgeoned, I caught myself thinking: Thank goodness they aren’t mostly Muslim, or Sikh, or Christian or Adivasi. They would have been flattened, killed, shot, jailed. Thank heaven they aren’t Kashmiri. They might have been blinded (although some did receive their share of pellet-like injuries). Thank goodness they are mostly Hindu. That’s how sad this moment is in India." Arundhati Roy thewire.in/rights/cockroach-…

this footage still shocks me to this day you have officials in full riot gear storming into a library where NOTHING is happening and the mainstream narrative was that these students deserved it for the ruckus they created

When we express shock at Jantar Mantar brutalities, we must remember this! Scene from Jamia, Dec 2019. Students studying in the college library were attacked by police. Sab yaad rakha jayega

A good day to remember why this government has kept Umar Khalid in prison for six years. He spoke about education, attacks on universities, and the targeting of minorities. They called him a terrorist instead of answering him. #cjp_पार्टी
