Last night, the GOP suffered historic losses in the midterms — but Trump has a moment he can take, just as Bill Clinton did in 1994.
Clinton misread the mandate, got whipped in the midterms, but rolled up his sleeves and started working with Republicans. He moved to the center and, two years later, won reelection by wide margins and left office with high approval numbers.
Politics is not hard. It’s about making people’s lives better. Once Democrats and Republicans work together to make people’s lives better, America will get better. That is the mandate.
