NOW TELL ME YOURS! (so I can add them 😂)
BioWare might be gone, but we might be close to witnessing the rebirth of a phoenix.
A phoenix who's already danced with EA in the past and will finally reacquire the copyrights to his own series in 2027.
A series that I would go as far as to say SHAPED how some of our most beloved games came to be, the original inspiration.
Ultima.
Lord British, we are counting on you.
I feel vindicated now.
This is one of BioWare co-founders speaking and I've been literally saying the same for the last few days: that the debt incurred due to the acquisition was the final nail in the coffin.
And people been attacking me for that simple fact.
What was EA going to shut down? The sports divisions? 😂

Because management's so far has been impeccable 🤣
Ex-BioWare staff member claims that EA asked the studio to remove a flag that appeared to resemble the LGBT+ flag from Mass Effect Universe project, out of fear of offending people🚀
The ex employee also stated that their management wasn’t very convinced with with the game, contrary to what other reports said that EA was very excited (could be in reference to the new management after the acquisition?)
“I think the video proposals we presented to the new management weren’t convincing.”
He added that while BioWare being known for inclusive storytelling, this still didn’t help to put away the skepticism🤔

#SaveMassEffect
To all the people commenting how "Veilguard killed BioWare because of politics etc" - you are off the mark. The one thing Veilguard killed for sure (without a reboot) was the Dragon Age franchise, but Veilguard wasn't the last nail in the coffin for BioWare, it was the 2nd to last and far from the first.
What DEFINITELY killed BioWare was the Saudi's acquisition of EA, the debt pressure being too much, BioWare would have been shut down at that point even if they released the new Mass Effect and if it was successful.
BioWare has always had what you'd call in "modern" terms "woke slop" in their games, the difference being that nobody complained before, and I will say rightly so. Because the writing quality was also MUCH superior than whatever we've got in Veilguard (and Andromeda, let me jolt you tired faces).
Veilguard is a bad game for a myriad of reasons BEFORE you even get to the politics, but you wouldn't know this unless you played it, and I can't blame anyone for not playing it. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy or like it, I would never go out of my way to tell someone what they can enjoy or not, I will just quietly mind my own business while judging your taste 🤣
Everyone trying to #SaveMassEffect, while I'm still mourning over Dragon Age.
Where was the #SaveDragonAge, where is it.
If BioWare REALLY (I'll believe it when I see it) was cooking a banger of a new ME like everyone alleges, then they could have rebooted Dragon Age too...
I'm coping, I know, Veilguard caused irreparable harm...
One more time

"Clarifying" a few points that I've had to explain too many times already:
- This post was not made to defend Veilguard, I hate that game. It seems like writing "Veilguard is a bad game for a myriad of reasons BEFORE you even get to the politics" wasn't clear of a statement enough.
- This post was not made to say that BioWare "wasn't pushing woke stuff", I have never claimed that, nor that it wasn't the reason why Veilguard sucked.
Still, to me, the politics were A reason Veilguard sucked, but not THE only reason. If you take away the politics from Veilguard, you're still left with a bad game.
If politics are the main problem for you, that's ok, but I don't see why you'd argue this point.
- This post was not made to blame the Saudi, but to point out that, in my opinion, the debt pressure EA incurred in (which is a consequence of the Saudi's acquisition) is what really forced them to cut on losses and shut down BioWare. Why do I say that? Because why else would they let them continue working on the new ME just until recently? Why would they shut them down shortly after the acquisition went through if the debt wasn't the main reason? You can tell me I'm just speculating here, and that's perfectly fine, but I do believe that's the real reason.
- This post was not made to blame EA or BioWare, as I blame both.
- This post was not made to discuss Veilguard specifically, it was more of a consequence due to people attributing BioWare's downfall only to that game, when I don't believe that to be the case. And before I get the usual replies, yes, Veilguard was a factor, for sure, I'm not claiming it wasn't a reason.
- This post was not made to say that the aggressive politics push was present in the older titles too, just that some "woke" elements were. But, thanks to a much superior writing and execution, nobody ever really cared about them before Veilguard (and partly Andromeda).
I'm not in favor of shoving ideologies, of any kind, down people's throats. In my opinion, it's more about how you write about something rather than what you write about.
If you believe that the recent extra aggressive politics push BioWare adopted is the reason why BioWare died, that's fine with me, even if I don't entirely agree, as I look at BG3 existing and thriving.
Why don't I entirely agree? Because, I, instead, believe in something else, something called nuance: the departure of the old guard at the helm, the choice to switch to Frostbite engine, the poor release of Andromeda, the economic disaster that was Anthem and yes, even the politics push was a factor, undeniably, there you have it!
I believe that the studio shut down because of 10 years of failures, 10 years of burning money, 10+ years of mismanagement, with the final nail in the coffin being the debt pressure.
Who else remembers driving around and crashing at high speed into other cars, with these banger songs in the back?
The only racing franchise I've ever enjoyed, and sadly, it got axed. 😮💨
#SaveBurnout ? Too late? 🥲
Someone *coughs* should pick up that mantle *coughs*
Thank you do much for all the adventures, Bioware❤️

Veilguard was a bad game, there is a thing called taste, you shouldn't dismiss other people's just because it doesn't align with yours.
If you liked it, that's fine with me, I will not spend my time attacking you for it, and I would expect the same in return.
Replying to @_Saretz
Veilguard was a great game the only people that say otherwise are the ones that didn't play it

Had to start a new thread, I'll probably reply a few more people here and then move on to that.
