Proof-of-concept work led by @_mariusW and published in @naturecomms raises hope that ‘gene drive’ could one day form basis of curative #genetherapy for #herpes. bit.ly/4eVhfwV

Very proud that our paper “Viral gene drive spread during herpes simplex virus 1 infection in mice” made Editor’s Highlights @NatureComms – under Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Congrats to first author @_mariusW!  nature.com/ncomms/editorshig…

The final version of our work is published! We developped a viral gene drive against HSV-1 and showed that it spread efficiently during infection in mice nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
We are excited share our latest work! We designed a viral gene against HSV-1 and showed that it spread efficiently during infection in mice

🚨New Review🚨 There's a long history of evidence for DNAme antagonism of CTCF in mammals. How important is it in normal dev. or disease contexts? @DaanNoordermeer @AnaMonteagudo4 and I put together a summary in this collaborative review @NatureSMB (1/4) rdcu.be/dBDFD

A viral gene drive has been successfully tested in animals for the first time A viral gene drive is a piece of DNA that can copy and paste itself into other viruses with the help of #CRISPR, until eventually all viruses carry the gene drive newscientist.com/article/240…

Why not gene drive in viruses? @_mariusW made it happen, and @ScienceMagazine is on the scent. So rad (from @sciencecohen) | Fighting viruses with viruses? ‘Gene drive’ offers new strategy to beat infections science.org/content/article/…

A viral gene drive spread by the co-infection of cells by wildtype and engineered viruses. Our latest results shows that co-infection and recombination occurs at a high frequency in vivo during HSV-1 infection. I hope all (reviewers) that didn’t believe it would will take notice!

France and Italy have been under-investing in basic research for years. And it shows.
Number of 2023 #ERC consolidator grants vs. GDP of countries? Here I show # ERC grants by country, their GDP and # ERCs/GDP. Germany, UK, and Spain are on par The Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Israel, and Belgium over-perform France, Italy, Norway, and Poland under-perform

The Webb telescope has detected carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere of exoplanet K2-18 b, a potentially habitable world over 8 times bigger than Earth. Webb’s data suggests the planet might be covered in ocean, with a hydrogen-rich atmosphere: go.nasa.gov/3sGKNLe
