What an immense legacy he leaves - from interfaith work to heritage conservation, from hospitals to sustainable development initiatives that turned ancient forts into sensitively designed hotels. Thinking too of the grandfather from whom he took over: Aga Khan III was at the forefront of a modernising agenda for India’s Muslims in the early 20th century - which I wrote about in ‘Broken Threads.’
His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family. Prince Karim Aga Khan was the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network.
The announcement of his designated successor will follow.
Leaders and staff of the Aga Khan Development Network offer our condolences to the family of His Highness and to the Ismaili community worldwide. As we honour the legacy of our founder, Prince Karim Aga Khan, we continue to work with our partners to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across the world, as he wished, irrespective of their religious affiliations or origins.

Very interesting poll @UniversitiesUK
3/4 young people interested NHS career *BUT*👇
"vast majority are being put off embarking on healthcare careers because of perceptions of low pay (90%), poor work/life balance (82%), stress of the job (79%), and long working hours (75%)"
NEW🌟
Almost three-quarters of young people are considering or have considered healthcare careers.
The UK Government must capitalise on interest in healthcare careers to meet the staffing needs of the NHS, say Universities UK & @NuffieldTrust 👇

Thank you to the person who just mugged me outside hospital, getting off with my iPhone
on a bike, wearing hi-vis green jacket.
It took place outside Guy's Hospital (Weston St side) in case anyone saw it.

‘Hiya is this gastro on-call? I’m Rob from Prestwich, 54, bit of a boozer. CGV last 24 hrs, melaena 2 days. Glasgow-Blatchford 8, but that’s without an Hb cause I’m calling from home to self-refer. Am I alright to pop in for a quick OGD +/- transfusion later today? Ta.’
"One of things we've put forward.. self referrals so individuals dont have to go to a dr in order to get referred to specialist help.. if youve got internal bleeding & you just need a test there ought to be a way that doesn't involve going to see a GP"

Incase you're wondering, what HH @TamimBinHamad put on Messi?
Its called a 'Beshth' in Arabic (البيشت).
Members of Royal families wear it, Arabian warriors in the past used to wear it after a victory. In general people don't wear it, unless its a special occasion like a wedding.

Been talking to colleagues and doing some digging on the whole fake fan story in Qatar for last few days.
Seems like they weren’t all fake and came from fan clubs setup by local residents who are - well - passionate and excited about the World Cup. But it got me thinking 1/N
