Honoured to be the first recipient of the Asia Regional Leadership Award from @NPAworldwide .

Best advice I give now to mid-career folks is:
try to work in a profit center rather than a cost center. Every role in a company is either one or skews more to one center and AI is eating up cost centers at the moment
Cost center = doesn’t directly make the company money, needs more hands to scale. Software engineer, product designer, customer support, project manager, product owner, community manager, technical writer, HR etc
Profit center = Solution engineer, FDE, account manager, marketing associate/manager, technical business development, growth marketer, tech product manager etc
One solution to being in a cost center is to draw a clean line from what you do to revenue. However difficult it is. Even if your manager doesn’t care, don’t worry, they’ll get fired before you.
There are now two of me. One doesn't need a calendar invite.
Meet my AI twin. Ask it about career moves, transitions or returning to India.
It's AI, not me. Give it a question worth answering. Tell me how it does.

Before negotiating an India offer, write down what you would leave behind.
Unvested equity. A pending bonus. Relocation costs. Your partner's income. Benefits you would need to replace.
Which items belong in the negotiation, and which belong in your family budget?

A question for hiring leaders:
What would make you hire someone who has never held the exact title you are filling?
Evidence of similar problems solved?
A strong work sample?
A trusted reference?
Where would you be willing to look beyond the title?
Before sending another job application, revisit the last five.
Was the fit clear?
Did you show relevant results?
Could someone explain why you belonged on the shortlist?
What would you change in the sixth application?
A voluntary exit is a negotiation, not a gift. If you're eligible for Microsoft's India offer, set what you lose (unvested stock, tenure, bonus timing) against what a new employer will replace.
Take it with a signed offer in hand, not a hope. Who's weighing this now?
Microsoft on Monday introduced a voluntary exit scheme for eligible employees in India, the US, the UK and Canada, offering financial assistance and career-planning support to those who choose to leave the company.
However, CFO Amy Hood has said she expects “very few people” to accept the company’s voluntary exit offer, which is available to around 60,000 employees across four countries. Hood said the company believes most eligible employees will choose to stay because of growth opportunities within Microsoft.

Returning to India? The joining date on your offer letter is also a tax decision.
Land a few weeks early and the year's day count can change your residency status and how overseas income is taxed.
Talk to a CA before you agree the date. Did anyone warn you?
Visa anxiety is a bad negotiator.
If you're on H-1B and thinking about India, start the conversations now, while you can still say no.
The best India offers rarely go to people who must land by March.
US government is making life more difficult for Indians working in America.
The plan is to end the H-1B visa deference policy.
In simple words, even if your visa extension was approved several times before, the next time you apply, officers can check your entire case again. Your previous approvals may no longer carry the same weight.
This is a big concern for Indians who are already stuck in the Green Card backlog for years. Many depend on H-1B extensions to continue living and working in the USA.
Imagine spending 10-15 years building your career and life in America, only to face uncertainty every time your visa comes up for renewal.
Yes, the government has the right to check genuine cases and stop visa fraud. But genuine workers who have followed all the rules should not have to face this kind of uncertainty again and again.
I think indians living in america simply ask themselves why they should keep struggling for a country that makes it so difficult for them to settle.
It's time to pack your bags and come back to India. Your own home is waiting for you.
If you are considering a return to India, try describing an ordinary Tuesday.
The commute. Your partner's day. School. Time with parents. Work calls across time zones.
Would the life around the job work as well as the offer does?
What a series win for SA
181 for 5 .in 2nd innings. (so practically 81 ahead) & staring at defeat.. to come back from there and bowl out Aussies for a lil over 100
Harmer. 6 wickets bowling more overs than runs given🥺
Big difference was their all rounders who flourished in the series..
🏏 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗧 | 3rd Test
🇿🇦 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 329 & 387
🇦🇺 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 429 & 111
*South Africa won the third and final test by 176 to claim the series 2-1.

I’m convinced that most stress isn’t from the hard things you’re doing, but from the hard things you’re avoiding. A good life is built by simply doing uncomfortable things sooner. The delayed conversation gets harder. The ignored problem gets bigger. The small repair gets more expensive. Peace is found through direct early action.
Cricket gives us an interesting hiring question.
Are you choosing the player with the best individual record, or the player this team needs for these conditions?
How do you distinguish a strong candidate from the right appointment?
A weekend career exercise:
Write down three problems people ask for your help with.
Which do you enjoy solving?
Which can you prove you solve well?
Who needs that ability?
Use your answers to sharpen how you introduce yourself.
A notice period is an offer-letter issue, not just an exit issue.
Before you sign: Who pays the buyout? What if your employer won't release you early?
Can the joining date move without the offer lapsing?
Get all three in writing.
The biggest scam in Indian IT isn't the ₹3.5 LPA starting salary.
It is the 90-day notice period attached to it:
>Company A won't shortlist you unless you are an "immediate joiner"
>Your current company won't release you in less than 90 days
>If you resign without an offer, recruiters lowball you because you look desperate
>If you ask for a buyout, HR suddenly forgets how to reply to emails
>Meanwhile, the same company can lay you off with a 15-minute calendar invite
It was never a notice period. It is an exit barrier designed to keep ₹4 LPA engineers from leaving.
Should a 30-day maximum notice period be made mandatory by law?
Laid off in an AI restructuring?
Don't apologise for it. Explain it in one line: the decision, the scope, your last result.
Then talk about the next role. The longer the explanation, the more it sounds like a defence.
People who got laid off are now getting rejected for new jobs because they "got fired."
The assumption is "if they let you go, something must be wrong with you."
But a lot of these layoffs are because of AI cutting roles, not because someone was bad at their job.
Hey @grok, if you got laid off, how do you explain it to a new company so they don't assume you were the problem?
A poll asks Indians if they've dropped US plans
. For mid-career people, the better question: which India role would I take if the US door shut tomorrow?
If you can't name the company, grade and reporting line, you don't have a Plan B yet.
