The Ember Paradox situation is a major turning point for the political VTubing space. Why? For chudtuber unity, this is the beginning of the end.
The Ember saga revealed a real ugly urge to purge ranks among the chuds. "You must agree with me or you're no better than a leftist." People are not forgiving each other, they are expressing disappointment and disgust with one another. This is the beginning of resentment, deep resentment. They're going to keep fighting with each other, use tactics reserved for enemies against one another, and their once-shared audience members are going to turn on each other. Or walk away out of embarrassment and disappointment.
If the U.S. midterms are a blue tsunami, I expect a lot of hardline chudtubers will turn inward, looking for who to blame. Who turned soft. Who "betrayed" the conservative movement. Which will cause further division, infighting, call outs.
This is the cost of treating your enemies like an evil that needs to be purged from the world. Where you see the world in terms of "bad targets," not "bad tactics." Where you unify in terms of your hatred of the enemy. As someone else pointed out, "To be united by hatred is a fragile alliance at best." And if you see the world in terms of "enemies" and "bad targets," eventually everyone is a target. Even your friends.

I think it’s sort of weird everyone involved is doing the same “name and shame investigation” strategy here on Ember, someone on their own side. This is a tactic normally reserved for disparaging leftists. Isn’t it a bit foreboding? The chickens coming home to roost?
I mean, personally, I think there’s a huge difference between banning crossdressers from a BDSM party and banning trans women. First off, talk to any trans woman on Grindr, a lot of them will tell you that CDs tend to be pushy toward trans women and even fetishize them. There’s often this built in problem with bad behavior enabled among CDs.
But secondly, CD is not an identity. It’s a fetish. CDs self-identify as men. Trans women have a gender identity and go about transitioning, their gender is not their sex life, so these two things are not comparable. I disagree with Ember on this and think the two convos are not the same
But also, okay, Ember has a weird take. Who CARES? Unless you’re trying to retroactively prove Ember needs to be excommunicated. Which is why this should be scary to chudtubers. The tactics used against the enemy are now being used within. 🐣
