We welcome today's @aidtransparency report and the fact many departments are becoming more transparent about their aid spend. But ICAI has long called for greater transparency around the Home Office's use of aid for domestic refugee costs and will continue to monitor this closely
📢UK aid transparency is improving, with 1 exception. 🔎Our new report finds most UK gov depts now publish more data on their aid spending, but transparency dipped sharply between 2020-25. The Home Office, despite £2.3bn in ODA, is opaque about its aid. publishwhatyoufund.org/downl…

Today's report from @aidtransparency finds that the Home Office has become less transparent about its aid spending – despite spending £2.3bn of the UK’s aid budget in 2024. Bond's CEO, @romilly_bond, calls on the Home Office to address transparency gaps: bond.org.uk/press-releases/2…

We are honored that @aidtransparency has recognized our progress on accountability & impact, but there is more to be done. We will continue to improve how we measure, gauge, & communicate the direction and pace of progress in tackling global challenges.
🚨 The 2025 DFI Transparency Index is here! Transparency is improving. But it’s not yet enough. We’ve evaluated 32 of the world’s leading development finance institution (DFI) portfolios, and while most have made real strides in data quality, accessibility, and harmonisation, critical gaps remain — especially in climate finance, impact, mobilisation and assurance of community disclosure. 📊 Key findings: @WorldBank ranks #1 for sovereign portfolio transparency, followed by @ADB_HQ and @AfDB_Group. For non-sovereign portfolios, Asian Development Bank leads, followed by @IFC_org and African Development Bank. 🇬🇧 @BritishIntInv is the top bilateral non-sovereign DFI. The only DFI that did not improve its 2023 score? 🇺🇸 @DFCgov. These findings matter. Greater transparency facilitates smarter investment decisions that build markets, drive development and strengthen accountability. 📥 Read the full report: publishwhatyoufund.org/downl… 👉 Explore our analysis of all the DFIs: publishwhatyoufund.org/dfi-i… 📅 Join the launch today (Thursday 26 June) at 2.30pm BST: odi.org/en/events/launch-of-… #2025Index #DevelopmentFinance #Transparency #ImpactInvesting #Accountability #ClimateFinance

#DFIs move billions in the name of development. But try asking who benefits, what counts as “climate,” or where the money really goes and it gets quiet. The 2025 DFI Transparency Index just dropped. Some progress. Still too much fog. Well done @aidtransparency!

Development finance can’t unlock private capital without transparency. The 2025 DFI Index shows progress, but major data gaps persist. Rhetoric alone won’t mobilise billions, so action and openness are essential. on.ft.com/4nlp03u

Dear Foundations, we can do better than this. And we need to. USAID is gone, and in the last 10 minutes the UK government has announced a cut in UK aid to 0.3%. Local organisations are relying on you.
Replying to @aidtransparency
Local groups are being hit hardest by US aid cuts. So it’s more urgent than ever for foundations to take action and meet their pledges to increase local funding. We’re here to help!

The claim that only 10% of USAID money reaches its intended beneficiaries is plain wrong. @rachelbnfield & @JustinSandefur look at where the figure originates, why it doesn’t show what the critics claim, & why it offers no pretext for shutting down USAID: bit.ly/40Pb4EO

.@aidtransparency report contradicts MDBs & DFI’s arguments that lack of transparency on investments results from private sector confidentiality concerns, as @WorldBank raises its bet on ‘billion to trillion’ agenda. More in #ObserverWinter24: tinyurl.com/PWYFReport

Important findings in @PublishWhatYouFund’s new report underscore need for donors to re-up their commitments to localization. And kudos to @USAID; its structured approach offers valuable lessons for other donors on tracking local funding.
🌍Leading donors have endorsed many global commitments on #localisation and increasing funding to local organisations, but our new study “Commitments Without Accountability” finds most have not matched these pledges with efforts to track and report local funding. Thread 1/3
