In 2023, I left Ramp to move to Israel. It's now worth $44B. My equity hadn't even vested yet. My friends joke that I made the most expensive move in the world. It was still the right call. Every time I've had to choose between the comfortable path and the harder one, the harder one paid off. 10 times out of 10. Since then, I've gotten married, started a company, and become a dad. I don't think the purpose of life is to live a comfortable life. I'm optimizing mine for meaning, not comfort.

“Oh, so it’s X amount per post?” I know a sales call is going to fail the second I say the price and they say this. I don’t want you to think of it as paying for posts, because anyone can write posts now. You’re paying for a world class content engineering team that does more than just content: Who to connect with What ICPs to go after What brings in pipeline or helps you raise your round A prospect told me this week that his writer writes better than he does, and that was the problem. Better posts weren’t bringing him customers…

👋 Reintroducing myself, and looking for new connections on X. I grew a LinkedIn following of 24K from scratch, all organic, and I’m finally bringing it here. My name is Alec (27, based in Israel), and I build audiences for founders + execs. A few things about me: → In 2023, I left Ramp to move to Israel with no job and no plan. It’s now worth $60B. → On August 4, 2025, I got let go from beehiiv. Nine days later I started @rallyupteam. → I believe an audience is the only channel you own outright. If you’re a founder or exec with over $5M in funding or ARR and you know you should be posting but still aren’t, this page is for you. I’ll be building this in public, wins and misses. P.S. I’ll also be sharing the parts of founder life nobody screenshots, like being a new dad and building from Israel. Say hello and let’s connect below. 👇

How to stay unsuccessful as a founder: → Say yes to every demo request, even from people with no budget and no timeline. → Spend weeks building the “perfect” internal system instead of hitting your outreach numbers. → Daydream about what the company looks like in 5 years instead of asking what you need to close this week. → Take the $3k from the prospect who has no plan for the quarter. → Wait until your posts are perfectly polished before you publish. → Post safe, corporate updates so nobody can disagree with you. → Build something that needs people to change a habit because everyone said it was a great idea. → Send the same cold email to everyone instead of recording a one-minute loom. → Wait for your busy contact to get responsive instead of pulling in someone else on their team. → Quit the boring thing that’s working so you can chase the next shiny idea. You’ve got this.

I worked at Ramp for 6 months back in 2023. Since then it went from a $5.8B valuation to a $60B valuation. I left in 2023 to move to Israel with no job, no plan, and a $60B equity that hadn’t vested. The first work I found was a few months of consulting for a Tel Aviv fintech. Since then, I’ve gotten married, become a dad, worked at a ten-figure startup, and built my own company. My friends joke that I made the most expensive move in the world, but I know this was still the right call.

A partner at a fund I’d never met DM’d me. 8 days after our first call, a $300K wire landed in my bank account. A partner at Lightbank, Eric Ong, had seen one of my posts and messaged me. There was no official process. That pre-seed was only the beginning. For the next 7 months I built software to get employees posting on LinkedIn, and nobody wanted it. Later, a $100M company with 700+ employees told us to skip the employees and start with their CEO, so I swallowed my pride and we pivoted to doing it for them. Four months after the pivot, we crossed $500K in ARR. Only getting started ✊

My wife told me to go take my shot two days before we found out she was pregnant. The day I got fired from beehiiv, I walked into the conversation with her like a McKinsey consultant. I had a 3-step plan to prove I wouldn’t fail our family: - Do some gigs on the side to pay the bills - Dip into my savings - Cut back on travel She stopped me mid-sentence. “Alec, you’ve always wanted to do your own thing, I believe in you, so go take your shot.” Every day when I sit down at my desk, there’s a picture of us on our wedding day to my right. I haven’t stopped since.

I take calls with 6-7 entrepreneurs a month, and I usually beg them not to quit their jobs. Before we talk about what they could build, I want them to understand what they’re signing up for. Getting traction doesn’t give you a sudden feeling of certainty, and the sacrifice isn’t just yours, just ask my wife. Your family lives with these decisions too. If you hear all of that and still keep coming back to something you want to build, take that seriously. But I’d recommend you test it before your household depends on it: - Keep the paycheck - Find a few hours on weekends - Build something people will actually pay for - Give yourself more evidence than an idea to bet on You might find enough demand to fully ship a venture, or you might build a profitable business on the side. It’s also very possible you decide the steady paycheck matters more to you than you expected. And even if you do go full-time, you don’t need to chase a $50 million Series A (or seed lol). A lean, profitable company that supports your family and leaves you time with them is worth building. I went all in on RallyUp after getting laid off, partly by choice, partly by force. I love what I’m building, and I take it seriously when someone who’s seen my success story on a feed asks whether they should do the same.

A Tier 1 VC told me my company could sell for 150 million dollars. He loved the business and thought we could do 9 figures in annual revenue. Then he explained why he couldn’t invest. His fund needed a $1B+ outcome, an “amazing” business simply wasn’t enough. On my way home, I asked myself: “Do I actually want to take my moonshot now?” I’m 27, I’m married, and we just had a baby in the middle of all this. And between planning the next raise and becoming a dad, I started asking what all that money was actually for. For now, I’m choosing something I can build sustainably (still very high growth) and I’m lucky to have the support of my current investors. Something customers want, with a team I trust, that leaves room for the other parts of my life. There’s a difference between building a great business and building the kind of business to satisfy a particular investor. I’d love to tell you that when I consciously made that decision, the funding headlines stopped getting to me. But I’d be lying if I said they don’t still get to me.

My best response rates on cold outbound ever came from walking around with my newborn son. I feel bad saying that, but at least I gave my wife a break haha. I'd put him in the carrier, go outside, and record one-minute videos for prospects. The response: "I never respond to cold outbound ever but I love this." Nobody hates cold outbound, they just hate the ones that feel like it.

If you don’t need to be on my call, leave. I’m building a company where nobody gets held hostage on Zoom. Like bro, why are you still here?

OpenAI just started rolling out GPT-6.1 Terra. It costs $1 per million input tokens, half the price of GPT-6.1 Sol. Writing with AI keeps getting cheaper and every founder can now publish more than they ever could. But if your content strategy is “use AI to write more,” you’re already falling behind. After 5 years of posting, I can say with confidence that what made people care about me was my life, family, story and what I’m building. I never had to rely on a model for that. People buy into you. they won’t buy into a cheap model that gets replaced year after year.

I got let go from a stable job on August 4, 2025 and started a company nine days later. What I’ve learned in the year since: 1. The self doubt will never go away, no matter what revenue number you hit. 2. “No” is a business skill. I used to say yes to every demo request until I tracked how many converted. I was spending 8 hours a week on demos with people who had no budget and no timeline, we’ve added a filtering process since then. 3. Where the CEO lives changes how they buy. American CEOs will buy brand while Israeli CEOs ask what the specific ROI is. It’s pushing me to show results (booked calls and pipeline), not just impressions. 4. One connection turns into five. Someone asked me how I can build a company from Israel. When I moved here, I got my first job through an investor’s intro, and I booked meetings off an Airtable list of other tech immigrants. Soon, that single connection started to multiply.

Missile Manufacturing, a $700 million sale to Intel, and an $83 million seed round. Those were three founders at an event recently, all doing incredible things, and I thought, “Oh, I have an agency. That’s cute.” Don't get me wrong, I’m deeply proud of my team and what we’re building, but I still make it feel small the second someone tells me what big thing they’re working on, and I hate that. As a kid, I wanted to be a marine biologist because the ocean fascinated me, and I didn’t need to be the biggest thing in the room to be fascinated by what was possible. Eventually, I wanted to create something that people would get real value from. Somewhere along the way, I added another requirement that my company has to sound impressive when I explain it to other founders. So I’m giving the business everything I can, and I won’t let myself forget there’s more to life than the business.

Microsoft just offered voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 people, that’s roughly 27% of the company. Anyone who says yes leaves Dec 31, along with their badge, email and Slack. When I was let go, the same happened to me. I lost my Slack, my work inbox and every partnership I’d built within minutes. The only thing I had left was my audience. Hand in the laptop when you leave, but take the audience with you.
$MSFT - MICROSOFT OFFERS BUYOUTS TO 60,000 WORKERS AMID AI SPENDING BOOM Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to approximately 60,000 employees as it restructures its workforce and redirects spending toward AI. Key details: 🔸 60,000 workers eligible across the US, Canada, India, and UK. 🔸 223,000 employees globally as of June. 🔸 Data center teams are among those excluded from the offer. 🔸 Eligible employees will receive severance-style benefits. The key takeaway: Microsoft is tightening labor costs while protecting critical AI infrastructure investments, highlighting how AI spending is reshaping Big Tech employment.

It's the same thing with content, good enough is just one prompt away and nowadays AI can copy a style in seconds, but it can’t copy you and your life
Hi, it's Darshita. I am a designer. And I'm pitching myself in public 'cause I'm done with a year full of anxiety. Everyone says design is dead and AI killed it. But the real parasite was hiding in plain sight. So here's my film, DESIGN IS DEAD. She's bold, fearless and very PINK 💖 Hiring? My DMs are open.
