Dream played with a level of confidence and swagger that was lacking in the last two games, and they lead 46-26 at the half. Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard have been the scoring power, combining for 21 points. Angel Reese has scored or assisted on 20 Dream points (7 points, 13 assists).

Both teams look EXHAUSTED in the first half of GM 5. One day between games just isn’t enough to recover. I like the finals being 7 games, but there needs to be more off days between games in the future or the basketball will continue to look like this. 25-22 at the half.

KEEP IT AWAY FROM KIAH!! Kiah Stokes has been the anchor on defense for the Valkyries, as the Dream are shooting just 9-48 (0-8 3-pt FG) when contested by Stokes in the WNBA Finals 💪

Burton and Stokes recommend folks call in sick to work Thursday to watch the 9:30 a.m. tipoff on Thursday. "Y'all know how to fake cough," Stokes said.
What's the mindset of the Valkyries heading into Game 6?: "It's a close out game. Atlanta is a great team and we don't want to five them any life. As much as we love Ballhalla, we don't want to come back here. We need the mentality that we have to win -- it's do or die." -- Stokes

What a two-way impact from Kiah Stokes: Atlanta shot 1-7 (0-1 3-pt FG) when she contested the shot. On offense, she went 3-3 on open shots, including 2-2 from 3 and tied her season-high with 13 points.

To clarify: There is a resolve to make sure any potential championship that is won Thursday afternoon is celebrated on the court.
Ramona Shelburne on what could happen if the WNBA title is won on Thursday: "That celebration may not actually be on that court. I've heard there are discussions about whether there's enough time to turn the arena over in time for the fans to celebrate on the court. It could be moved to a practice court" Unreal man smh

For those asking why the WNBA Finals game is at 12:30 while the NBA regular season game is at 8….Both the Cavs and Hawks play in other cities the night before. The doubleheader matinee and Friday/Tuesday options ended up being the best of the bad options here. Moving Hawks-Cavs to Friday also created terrible back-to-backs for both teams.
After a weekend of nonstop frantic discussions and negotiation, Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be played Thursday at 12:30 pm at 17,000-seat State Farm Arena in Atlanta, sources told ESPN. The Atlanta Hawks-Cleveland Cavaliers game that night will move back to 8 pm to accommodate the doubleheader, just as the Hawks did for Game 4. This allows a potential Game 7 to remain scheduled for Halloween at Chase Center in San Francisco. All three Finals games in Atlanta have required hurried adjustments to the schedule at State Farm Arena. It took collective efforts from the WNBA, NBA, the Hawks, State Farm Arena, Dream, Valkyries and broadcast partners to figure out the best course of action again. By moving the game earlier in the day, the WNBA avoided a scenario where a potential championship game was played inside the Dream’s home arena, the 3,500 seat Gateway Center. The other option under strong consideration was moving Game 6 to an open date at State Farm Arena on Friday and Game 7 to an open date at Chase Center on Tuesday, November 3.

Jordin Canada and Allisha Gray looked visibly excited with @alexaphilippou informed them Game 6 would be at Stare Farm — grinning at one another on the media zoom call. Canada: “Super excited that it will be at State Farm. The crowd has showed up and showed out for Games 3 and 4 so looking forward to being at State Farm for Game 6.”

I’ve heard from several NBA executives about this situation today. The general sentiment is that NBA games can be moved, but it’s extremely difficult two days in advance. There’s employees to schedule, tickets to sell, travel and player health to consider. A few weeks ago, it would have been a lot easier to move a game to Cleveland or from Thursday to Friday (creating back-to-backs for both teams). But last minute is very challenging.

The two leading options of the not so great options are a matinee at State Farm Arena for Game 6 on Thursday in Atlanta or shifting Game 6 to Friday and Game 7 to Tuesday. Thus far the league doesn’t love the idea of a weekday matinee for a Finals game. Others don’t love the idea of 3 days between Games 5/6 AND 6/7.

The Valkyries are the first team in WNBA Finals history to change multiple players in their starting lineup in Game 3 or later (without an injury to a starter) since the W went to a 5-game Finals format in 2005. Research: Emily Adams & Zack Collura

Kiah Stokes with the lock down D! 🔒 Stokes held Angel Reese to 2-of-10 from the field when she was the primary defender in game 4. In the Finals, Stokes has held Reese to 22% on FG compared to her 68% against all other defenders. She also recorded her 4th straight Finals game with 3+ blocks. 💪

Gabby Williams on her now viral huddle with the Valkyries right after Game 3: "Ive been too loose as a leader…. I have been too much of, ‘It’s alright, we’ll figure it out. We’re good, we’re good.’ I wanted to show my team something different because we need something different... I had to get out of my comfort zone and re-motivate the troops.”
