I actually find this interesting. Starbucks menu never shows the full menu. Only the seasonal and popular (by their definition) items. So is my personal drink still available even though it's not on the menu? No idea.
Starbucks CEO says the company is planning to focus more on AI and tech, including adding a system that would recognize customers as they arrive in stores to "present personalized digital menus."

What’s a polite way to tell someone, “I’m not discussing this with you because your entire understanding of the subject is built on so many interconnected misconceptions that correcting them would require uninstalling your current worldview and starting the tutorial from birth”?

The most famous person I've ever spoken to? I sat next to Richard Feynman on a plane once, and we chatted. In fact, more than once. And I had dinner with him several thousand times. And I spent a few months inside his wife's womb.
Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever spoken to? Not “seen from far away” — actually talked to, even for a minute. A quick hello, a handshake, a normal conversation… and you still remember it. Who was it?

A lot has been made of the R2 efficiency and range, and that’s certainly something I’ve joined in on in different ways. Driving this car on a trip and just having cool adventures with it is absolutely the way it was engineered to be enjoyed. Fixating on the spec sheet and tests don’t do it justice. It’s a joy to live with, and I can already feel myself becoming attached to it much like I was to my R1T. There’s some special sauce that Rivian has that I haven’t found in any other vehicle. The only way to describe it is that they’ve just nailed the “vibes” aspect of vehicle ownership. Is it perfect? No, but it is improving every update. That’s all you can ask.

People are dying from heat right now, and the answer is still “we need more research.” What the fuck is all the research we already have for, then? There’s an entire body of work on stratospheric aerosol injection. At some point, we have to use it to make a decision. My position is that we should move toward gradual, closely monitored deployment and adjust based on what we measure. Keep researching while we do it. That involves risk. So does letting the planet keep warming while we argue. You don’t get to demand perfect certainty from an intervention and then treat waiting as harmless. What would actually be enough evidence for you? What result would make you willing to act? If you can’t answer that, “more research” is just a way to avoid making a decision. I’m fucking tired of hearing that this is an emergency from people whose plan has no point at which we actually start cooling anything.

There is not to me knowledge one single elected official in the entire state of California who is willing to repeal prop 13, arguably the single worst law on the books of any blue state Rich boomers have our generation by the neck and no one is fighting for us
Incredible. Endless stories about young people feeling disillusioned, dooming about not being able to even buy a house etc, and yet there is no politician of any party (afaik) that will actually do anything to reduce the boomers’ slice of the pie.

"SpaceX no longer needs NASA" lol yes as I said that is fundamentally what everyone is losing their minds over. btw how did the IPO go?
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about, and talking to people about a post-Falcon world. Why sunset the world’s best rocket? Can Starship replace it? What about Artemis? Why are SpaceXers flocking to Memphis? Grab a coffee, this is a long one. arstechnica.com/space/2026/1…

SpaceX is becoming independent from NASA and that's a great thing for spaceflight and the push for the stars, believing the opposite is just insanity. It's not SpaceX's fault that NASA entirely failed to utilize Falcon to its fullest extent while it has launched for over 10 years easily hitting over 100 flights/yr Every huge ambition NASA laid out during the Shuttle era could've easily been done with Falcon 9's high payload capacity and cheap costs, NASA said no to this amazing rocket and now it's time to move on with Starship and SpaceX's grand plans for the Moon and Mars.

once you realize the point of inclusionary zoning is to make it harder to build, you can achieve a state of zen and not get mad when you read stuff like this
Exclusionary zoning is bad. But "inclusionary zoning," rather than being the opposite of bad exclusionary zoning, is just the same old exclusionary barriers to multifamily housing given a new name. Just say no! open.substack.com/pub/capita…

Me: I need to cancel my AT&T service. AT&T: May I ask why? Me: I’m moving. AT&T: Where are you moving to? Me: Somewhere else. Why do you need to know? AT&T: It’s required for documentation purposes. It’s part of our cancellation process. Me: Well, it’s not part of MY process. I’m asking you to cancel my service, not help me move. AT&T: I’ll need your new address to proceed. Me: You know what? Forget I said I was moving. I’m not moving anywhere. I simply want to cancel my service. AT&T: Can you provide a reason for cancellation? Me: Absolutely. Please document that AT&T is nosy, intrusive, unnecessarily complicated, and apparently believes canceling a service requires surrendering my future whereabouts. AT&T: … Me: … AT&T: Okay, your service will be cancelled. Me: So you CAN cancel it without knowing where I’m going? AT&T: … WHY DO COMPANIES MAKE IT SO DIFFICULT TO STOP PAYING THEM? 😭 Sometimes you just want to cancel a service without being interrogated like you’re applying for witness protection. I don’t owe a company my life story just because I no longer want to be its customer. 😂

I feel nasty even entertaining the idea, but if those people got everything they wanted and they successfully destroyed SpaceX (which is one of the most transparently motivated fantasies I've ever heard of), they would be remembered as some of the greatest criminals in history.
Yes, I'm aware that communists fantasize about seizing and liquidating successful businesses and making everyone poorer. But that wouldn't change what I'm saying. SpaceX has *already* earned an indelible place in spaceflight history by this point, nothing can change that now.

I've uncovered why LADWP water rates are skyrocketing. LADWP's supplier said water conservation was too successful, leading water use/revenue to collapse— justifying a 40% rate hike. They asked us to save water, so we did. But we saved too much, so they're spiking our rates.
An independent, non-city-affiliated audit of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power rates has been ordered by Mayor Karen Bass, her office says. ktla.com/news/local-news/ind…

SpaceX will never reach orbit. 9 engines = explosion Dragon won't work Supersonic retropropulsion is impossible You can't land a booster vertically Starliner will easily beat Crew Dragon MCT/ITS is a pipe dream 27 engines = explosion Starlink will never work Starship is a joke
SpaceX will never build a permanent facility on the moon. SpaceX will never reach the moon. SpaceX will never have AI data centers in orbit. These are impracticable fanfics being sold by a famous liar in Musk.

the spelling CAMERASENOR_ON is not a typo, there’s a small spanish guy in your tv watching you
turns out it classifies what audio it hears, before reporting back to samsung. sensor preferences, dog-barking and baby-crying event counters, and camera streaming duration are built into telemetry paths.
