LAUNCH DAY🚀 I've been wanting to carve out a little corner of the internet to share design experiments. Welcome to the Sandbox. A space (and creative outlet) to explore design, learn new tools and techniques, and push myself to make great work. Dev by @emielvbb Link in bio.

The videos were on the site before the ball, so the two always felt a bit conceptually disconnected. This ties them together. The ball is still a toy, but now it also more clearly an active marker.

The replies are priceless. People are so gullible.

I underestimated how garish the details need to be if you actually want to see them. My icon workspace is terrifying to look at right now.

Latest WebGPU and WGSL experiment from last night. I wanted to play with the classic box physics and simple packing. All the physics are working entirely on the GPU end instead of CPU too. 🎲✨ Check it out on dice.bizar.ro.

i love the stylistic choices in into the spider-verse, where miles morales is animated at 12fps while everything around him runs at 24fps. that and the juxtaposition of the square enix hd-2d style made me want to see what this could look like in UI the only way i could make it work was by over-exaggerating the movement, which kept it feeling intentional. subtle movement at a low frame rate just felt like a performance issue

ever come back to a show on netflix after a while and need to jog your memory? tap on a character and get quick context of who they are, their relationships and what they’re doing in the scene (spoiler free!)

Exploring the use of motion blur to simulate speed in a component library. As an element animates out of view, a distance trigger applies motion blur to give the appearance that it's moving faster than it actually is.

This is pretty ironic. Asked Claude if it's possible to have a persistent browser and terminal panel across sessions.

In all seriousness, it would be great to see this added to the Claude desktop app. It's tedious to open a new pane for each every time I start a new session. /cc @daniel__designs

- Less than 3k lines of code written - Agent selection set to auto - 35% of my weekly usage chewed up after 4 hours and the agents still couldn’t solve the rendering problem Brutal.
Man, Cursor models are really bad at threejs. SMH.

“designing much faster than the others” — this so daft and makes it clear they don’t understand design at all. “Designing fast” (or slow) is just not a thing. If you conflate “producing ui by piecing together stuff” and “design” then the former (which is a form of assembly-line practice) can surely be fast or slow. What makes the practice of design challenging is not how to put a ui or poster together, it’s what the pieces are, what the message is, what is being communicated, how it all works together. So many of today’s “design” AI tools focus almost exclusively on the production part, on putting stuff together. I’d love to see an AI design tool that forms a deep understanding of a problem over the course of days or months and works like a creative partner. Call me on my bullshit, thinks about the whole, isn’t concerned really about the final arrangement of elements as much as it would understand the story and the message.
Revolut's designers are moving off Figma. Storonsky spotted one team designing much faster than the others. What they did: 1. Gave an LLM Revolut's design system at the code level 2. Prompted it to build new flows on top of that system 3. Got a live interface they can click through on a laptop or phone, instead of static frames Result: 3-4x faster. Now he's pushing it to every designer at Revolut. His job, as he describes it: find what works in one team and spread it across the company. Full breakdown here: productmarketfit.tech/p/revo…

What are good task bar apps to track token usage across all your AI subscriptions? OpenUsage keeps saying I’m not logged in to my subs with no way to fix the issue.

Does anyone remember when social media first came out, and it was just regular people posting pics or thoughts, no one trying to go viral, no influencers. Just vibes. What a time.
