If a business underperforms for 10+ years... there are going to be cuts. Billionaires don't become billionaires by making popular decisions... they have been ruthless, they have been selfish. Redundancies are brutal, and there's been SO MUCH avoidable waste at Man United, but as sad as the cuts at Old Trafford have been I don't find it surprising. It's far, far easier to cut staff paid less than £50,000 per year, than find buyers for underperforming players on £200,000 per week whose transfer fees are still being amortised.... The figures are so incomprehensibly massive, they should be looked at in isolation. Journalists know that, but they also know that "X number of staff made redundant whilst £150,000 per week Shaw misses X game in a row," sells papers.
