Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls. That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching. I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee. Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

I work in aviation so this morning I got to sit around with a bunch of pilots and discuss this horrible situation and I found it so interesting that none of the pilots thought the gender or race of the pilots were a factor at all but a bunch of fucking idiots on here do.
Co-pilot. Not in charge of the cockpit. Thousands of people dragging her. You guys are vultures.

Tutor Intelligence co-founder and CEO Josh Gruenstein is putting AI robots to work in American factories and warehouses, taking on the back-breaking jobs they can't hire for. Tutor builds its robots in Massachusetts and charges by the hour, with no upfront cost. When the AI gets stuck, a human "tutor" takes over and teaches it the task, creating training data along the way. Josh joins a16z's Martin Casado and Raghu Raghuram to discuss how Tutor goes from a first sales call to a working robot in about three months, why so many robot startups died building for a single customer, why anyone will be able to start a business in the physical world, and a whole lot more. 0:50 Deploy robots, then build the data 2:50 Why smart robots aren't enough 4:38 The ultimate systems problem 6:45 Why robot companies go vertical 9:07 How remote humans tutor robots 11:00 Will robots outgrow their tutors? 14:54 How AI labs sped up robotics 16:57 Meet Cassie and Sonny 20:55 What factory work actually looks like 23:18 A robot for $16 an hour 25:51 When robots become coworkers 29:04 Why robot startups keep dying 31:21 When 1% cheaper flips a market 34:52 Robots cost more to run than to buy 38:18 China's automation bet may backfire 42:02 Real-world RL on a 100-robot fleet YouTube: youtu.be/lXkjXSul6yg @joshgruenstein @tutorintel @martin_casado @RaghuRaghuram
We raised a $75M Series B to deploy intelligent robots now, led by @a16z, with participation from @usv and @neo. @tutorintel robots work real jobs across the United States, directed by human “tutors” and the foundation models we’ve trained on the work done. This round accelerates frontier model training, robot manufacturing, and deployment into industry. We’re in almost 4x as many sites as a year ago; nearly a third of this year’s deployments went to existing customers coming back for more; and we’re on track to have more than 1,000 robots under contract by the end of 2027. Our mission is to proliferate robotics for the common good. If you want to make robots reliably do things others think are impossible, for people who’ve never had access to this technology, join us.

300+ Indians have spent years of their lives building satellites and critical technology for this country. They deserve better than having their work and patriotism questioned by manufactured controversies. I owe them a response. Here it is:

HUGE NEWS!!! Today we're launching the world's first audio decision model. What used to take 10+ fragmented models (speaker diarization, sentiment analysis, tone detection, and noise classification) is now a single API call! Ask anything in natural language: • "How many people are in this recording?" • "Is this caller getting frustrated?" • "Did the user sound confident when answering?" Direct audio-to-insight understanding. Realtime, or across hours of recorded audio. Sign up for access on our website or DM for details!!!!
Introducing the Hume Audio Decision API. Ask anything: How many speakers? Is anyone laughing? Is the caller frustrated? What used to take 10+ models is now one call. Trained on 10M+ human judgments, so it answers the way human listeners would. Realtime, or across hours of recordings. Request access below.

Own your intelligence. Anyone that opposes this has something to sell you (perhaps your own intelligence back to you.) Local models need to continue proliferating. The “absolute unit” massive models may be out of reach for now locally, so your best option is to, indeed, keep your options open. Own your harness, data, connections, runtime: your agents. Embrace open source.

Turns out there is tremendous alpha in just being the guy who ACTUALLY DOES what he says hes going to do. Maybe it’s the midwestern in me, but when I say things, I feel weight until they get done.

I cannot more emphatically reject this way of thinking. Everyone matters. Everyone is living a real life. No one is an NPC. It's a kind of madness to think that the will to power is a prerequisite for realness.

This is the single most insightful thing I have ever heard about the changing landscape of modern business. Haters are gonna hate, but there is a reason he is the most successful venture capitalist of all time. And no, it's not just luck. Respect. 👊

Carl Jung was right when he said: in my experience, I have found that the solutions to all of life’s most intractable problems are not found through any form of intellect or cleverness. They are solved simply by moving on.

People really don’t realise how fucking scary this is lol
Yesterday, an anonymous black hat group reached out with an insane RL request. They offered an astronomical amount of money to post-train open-weight models on exploit data. The amount of attack data they claim to hold is unlike anything I have ever seen. If someone told me this was an undercover FBI dataset, I would have believed it. For context, a white-hat project I worked on using GLM-5.3 used less than one percent of that volume, and it already outperformed frontier models by a huge margin. Of course, I turned it down. But what genuinely scares me is knowing someone else will eventually take the deal.
