🤦♂️ Nick Ferrari can’t believe what he’s hearing from the clueless Border Security Minister this morning.
Things got a bit awkward with Anna Turley and Nick Ferrari on LBC. Watch it for your own amusement.
He’s asking what happened to the “tough cookie” after Shabana Mahmood watered down her own immigration reforms yesterday. He says the cookie’s crumbled, hasn’t it?
Turley: “No, not at all. Shabana is one of the toughest people I’ve ever met in my life.”
Nick reacts with absolute bewilderment:
“Oh, do me a favour! Respectfully, Minister, please!” 😂
He asks her to detail that toughness she showed yesterday. Turley can’t, so instead she reels off the usual lines about immigration down 80%, small boat crossings down 40% and removals up by 50%.
Nick cuts in and asks where the removals are actually going. “Which countries do they go to?”
Turley: “They go back to countries we’ve got an agreement with, who will accept them.”
Ferrari: “Such as?”
Cue mass panic from the minister. She’s looking left, right and centre for the details while people scramble in the background for information. 😂
She properly panics, stutters and stammers, and still waiting for the info she blurts out “Albania”, the first country she can think of.
Ferrari keeps her on the hook knowing she’s scrambling: “80,000 people have all gone back to Albania?”
Turley proper squirming now, looking everywhere: “No, no, a whole range of other countries.”
Ferrari: “What are the other countries then?”
Turley: “They go back to their countries of origin.”
Ferrari: “But what are those countries?”
Turley fully grasping at straws at this point: “Erm, countries in Africa, countries around the world.”
Glorious. 😂
She was all over the place and Nick knew it and played her like a fiddle.
Car crash after car crash with this lot, but that was pretty funny to watch.

My son is an electrician; he has a small company, employing a few people. He works on the tools, as well as chases contracts and manages workload. And carries all the stress. His company is only worth its current contracts. He is exactly the kind of working person our economy depends on: I thought Labour understood this.
“I don't think employers are working people.”

And there is. A Labour government politician saying the quiet part out loud. This is what Labour really think. They have an inverted snobbery and disregard towards self employed workers and private sector businesses owners.

🚨 "I DON'T THINK EMPLOYERS ARE WORKING PEOPLE"
That's the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Emma Reynolds.
So who are Britain's employers?
🔴 1.42 MILLION businesses employ staff
✅ 81% of them have fewer than 10 staff
❌ Just 8,335 are large firms
💷 SMEs provide 16.9 MILLION jobs, 60% of private sector employment
Not faceless corporations. The builder with an apprentice. The café owner. The local hairdresser.
Perhaps ministers should meet a few of them.
Are business owners not working people?

Maybe I’m in a bad mood ‘cos broken legs take ages to heal, but @EmmaforWycombe really is moronic and should be fired. To state that “employers are not working people they are companies” shows such a scary lack of understand of how the world goes round that it boggles the mind.

Since when did creating jobs mean you stopped being a “working person”? @EmmaforWycombe

Say that to the owner of a cafe or pub currently working 80+ hours a week because they’ve had to cut back on staff due to the National Insurance and NMW hikes.

"Employers aren't working people, they're companies."
Let's look at the facts, shall we?
🔹 99.85% of UK businesses are SMEs. Only 8,335 are big corporates.
🔹 4.7 million people run one-person businesses with no staff.
🔹 The rest are builders, hairdressers, café owners and shopkeepers, grafting 60-hour weeks to employ 12.2 million people.
They do the job by day, the books by midnight, and pay their staff before they pay themselves.
Not working people, @EmmaforWycombe?
They pay your salary and expenses…

What an extraordinary statement. Apparently, according to Labour, employers aren't working people. Tell that to the small business owners working 60-hour weeks, risking their savings, paying their staff and keeping their businesses afloat. Labour can play with definitions and indulge in endless whataboutery, but it cannot escape the consequences of its decisions. Taxing employers affects jobs, wages and the very people Labour claims to protect.

This is an insult to every single business in Britain. From the family run, to small and medium size business, they are the backbone of the UK economy, led by people who work 7 days a week, who have risked their own money and made personal sacrifices to provide employment and economic security to people across the country.
Labour are the most ignorant and dogmatic government of our time when it comes to understanding the basic facts about business and the economy. mol.im/a/16256477

🆘 There it is folks employers are ‘NO’ workers.
Tell that to all the SME
blue collared self employed.
The brickies, joiners, plasterers, shop keepers, hairdressers, engineers, dentists, haulage contractors the list endless.
Honest to god batten down the hatches the UK Government had sunk the country to an all time low.
This is level of incompetence that delivered a failing budget.
Here is my dad’s story and mine growing a SME in construction.
You work all your life, up at the crack of dawn working all hours to survive every bloody recession under the sun.
You have two jobs in the early days so you can survive as money tight.
You put your house up as security to the bank.
You put up personal guarantees to the bank.
You take home less than the minimum wage when times are tough so you can pay the team.
You multi task doing every job under the sun from cleaning, buying, accounts, selling and marketing, the list is endless.
You grow your business you create jobs.
You pay your taxes.
You finally manage to pay the back the bank the loan and overdraft.
The bank guarantees are lifted and the standard security removed from your house by the bank.
You risk it all…and there is plenty of us feckin sick and tired of this incompetence at the hands if both governments.
They treat us like a piggy bank and our taxes pay their wages.
But hey folks it is all going to be fine as this Minister thinks you are ‘NOT’ a worker but you are PLC UK.

Emma Reynolds, a Labour Treasury Minister, has just said on Camilla Tominey’s show on GB News ‘I don’t think employers are working people, they are companies’
Is she for real?! How gobsmackingly lacking in any real world or business understanding.
My dad - like hundreds of thousands of small business owners - was an employer ….and very much a working person!
Emma Reynolds has just kicked every small business owner in the country and shown Labour’s true colours. This lot are not fit to be in government.
