Tomasetti's work of Mahabharata is nothing short of elite! So glad that Modiji has recognised it
A glimpse of Kashi in Rome!
Mr. Giampaolo Tomassetti, an Italian painter, presented his work on Varanasi. His passion for Indian culture goes back over four decades. In the 1980’s he started as an illustrator for books on Vedic culture. From 2008 to 2013 he worked on 23 large paintings relating to the Mahabharat.

Thillai Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram is where Shiva is worshipped as Nataraja, the cosmic dancer.
One of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams, it represents Akasha, or space. Its Chidambara Rahasyam symbolises the formless presence of the divine.
The Bengal School revived India’s ancient visual heritage through Hindu themes, Indic aesthetics, Buddhist imagery, Ajanta murals, and indigenous folk traditions.
It sought an Indian artistic language rooted in civilisational memory rather than colonial academic naturalism.
Shri Ekambareswarar Temple is a magnificent Shiva temple and one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalas, representing Earth.
Its towering gopuram, thousand-pillared hall and sacred mango tree reflect Kanchipuram’s rich spiritual and architectural heritage.
Allah Bux, celebrated as the “Krishna painter,” created luminous, realistic portrayals of Krishna and Radha.
His works combine Western academic technique with Indic themes, capturing Shri Krishna through rich detail, romantic landscapes and dramatic light.
Apart from those cashews and Nescafe (also, Nutella, really?), the rest seem pretty aligned with what I like.
The kind of knowledge AI has about me, is it a little concerning?
Early mornings at Gangaikonda Cholapuram has a quiet charm.
Built by Rajendra Chola I in the 11th century CE as the capital of his empire, the temple has stood through centuries of change. In the soft morning light, its history feels especially close.
Chola Nataraja bronzes capture Shiva’s Ānanda Tāṇḍava, the dance of bliss.
Cast in bronze through the lost-wax process, the image unites creation, destruction and liberation: drum, flame, raised foot and Apasmara transform cosmic theology into movement.
Hugo Vilfred Pedersen (1870–1959), the Danish “Rajah Painter,” spent years travelling across India, capturing its monuments, landscapes, royalty and everyday people.
His richly detailed oils of temples, locals etc, blend European academic painting with India’s visual grandeur.

Bless these two fishermen ♥️🥹 They rescued a helpless baby elephant being swept away by the raging Teesta River in West Bengal, then hugged the little one like their own. What a beautiful moment! Humanity at its finest. 🐘♥️
A toxic day, certainly not one to make the Motherland proud. Thus, something pleasant to end on a good note in the hope that tomorrow will be great. One of my favourites!

Look at that girl covering her chest with her arms in alarm. That was us when used to take the public transport to tuitions when we were teenagers back in early 2000s.
Nothing has changed!
Heartbreaking
Why are women asked to “Dress differently, not to go out at night & to be more careful.”
Why aren’t men asked why they think they’re entitled to interfere with, intimidate or harass women like this?
Women need freedom & men need boundaries. Period. 😡 nitter.cf/pinkiepragya/status/21…

Early morning at Brihadeeswarar Temple, Thanjavur.
The huge stone walls, the quiet courtyard, the first prayers of the day; it’s hard not to pause and take in the feeling of standing somewhere that has been alive for more than a thousand years.
Erich Kips (1869–1945) was a German landscape painter whose travels in India inspired a series of atmospheric paintings, particularly of Varanasi (Benares) and its ghats.
His Munshi Ghat in Varanasi and other works from his 1928 world voyage capture the Ganges, riverside architecture and everyday activity in loose, luminous brushwork.
