In each place I gave a tutorial and a technical talk, mostly an hour each session, with audiences in the range 50-100 in each case. The trip was phenomenal. I am a bit at a loss to communicate just how warmly the outreach was received. Science is truly the common language. 3/3

Bacteria can propel themselves like a corkscrew by wrapping their flagella around their body. How do they do it? A new study in Physical Review E suggests they take advantage of motor-induced buckling instability to perform this method of locomotion. 🔗 go.aps.org/4eZvYtm

Colloidal particles at fluid interfaces may strongly hinder or barely affect mass transfer. Using the Fick-Jacobs equation, a new Letter shows that hindrance occurs mainly at short times from reduced cross-section, giving a simple predictive criterion. go.aps.org/4hTKEJR

Turbulence drives heterogeneous particle adhesion in channel flows, with adhesion strength rising at higher temperatures. DNS show that deposition depends on particle inertia and is shaped by turbulent structures. Read the PRFluids Editors’ suggestion: go.aps.org/4hjW6OK

A two-sphere microswimmer made of responsive hydrogels can move through viscous fluids by swelling and deswelling in response to chemical waves. A model shows how swimming speed depends on the asymmetry of the gel spheres, enabling chemoresponsive motion. go.aps.org/4nDwdf4

Do ice stalagmites grow only vertically? Not always! Temperature and flow rate shape their form, creating star-like structures. Heat diffusion at the tip controls whether growth is purely vertical or also lateral. Read the PRFluids Editors' suggestion: go.aps.org/4nGb8AH

🚢 🌊 PRFluids Editors' suggestion: Wave forecasts for ships are now more accurate with a new nonlinear prediction model using shipborne radar data and dynamic averaging. By including third-order effects, the model predicts even extreme waves in rough seas go.aps.org/3VTVBB4

📢 PRFluids Editors' suggestion: Gel-like skins that form on drying porous materials delay evaporation. By accounting for pore size gradients and viscosity-dependent vapor pressure, a new model predicts the evaporation slowdown observed in experiments. go.aps.org/4n7U9qR

In turbulent superfluid helium, quantum vortex lines form tangles with a characteristic mean intervortex spacing. Experiments show this spacing follows a Kolmogorov-like power law with Reynolds number, which can be explained by classical turbulence theory. go.aps.org/4oXfg0e
