Congratulations to Jennifer Whiteside on being named Interim Leader of the BC NDP. I sat across the floor from her for a long time and she is a serious person who works hard for the people she represents. A good opposition makes for a better government, and I expect her to hold us to account while we get to work delivering what we promised British Columbians.

What keeps someone committed to Rotary for decades? In my conversation with Rotary International President Yinka Babalola, he shared a simple but powerful idea: Ask any Rotary member how Rotary has changed them, and you'll hear a unique story. on.rotary.org/4im112E

Good decision by @PtFry
The election is over, and the work for Vancouver is what matters now. I'm honoured to lead Mayor-elect Pete Fry’s @PtFry transition and help his team get off to a strong start. When the mayor succeeds, Vancouver succeeds.

Mayor Elect Pete Fry says he has asked COPE City Councillor Sean Orr to serve as the Deputy Mayor for the foreseeable future. He's also recommending that ABC Councillor Mike Klassen be reappointed to the Metro Vancouver Board.

This is an excellent summation of the NDP’s epic fall from power by John Horgan’s former chief of staff, Geoff Meggs #bcpoli

It is not a declaration of war. I’m not sure when both the right and the left decided to start throwing these terms around but it’s irresponsible, dangerous, and not productive in the least. I watched @TheRealKeean talk about going to war, now I’m seeing Grand Chief Stewart Phillip do the same. This is legislation, and it must reflect the expectations of voters - that’s how democracy works. British Columbians voted for the BC Conservatives and part of their campaign was to repeal it, and citizens voted for it. If after an election, you don’t like the result and the policies - you shouldn’t start viewing that as a declaration of war. It’s democracy in action. If my members voted for a new Chief, with a different vision, I don’t get to call that an act an act of war - I respect the results and seek to work with the new leader on their path.

Over the past five weeks, I’ve gone to dozens of pressers and election-related events — almost exclusively via public transit 🚉 It helps to live downtown, I know, but I’m still pretty proud of that. Now let’s improve our system so in 2030 I won’t have to use a car at all!

A thought for all the campaign staff on the BC NDP, Con and Green teams. Politics is a volatile and unpredictable business. 8 weeks ago none of this was imaginable. And those in government had “secure” jobs. Things change on a dime and you all pivoted into campaign, left your families for an intense battle over competing visions. And now some will lose jobs and others will gain them. It can seem unfair and sudden (and it is) but that’s what the people decide. Know that even though you are all doing political jobs - you too are public servants. We don’t say that enough but it’s true. Our democracy depends on well functioning political parties and the staff who make that happen. Thank you all for your service, whether you won or lost. #cdnpoli #bcpoli

First of all it was refreshing to hear the leaders of each party thank each other for the hard work they did. It was nice to hear @Dave_Eby and @LDoerkson being respectful to each other in their speeches. This election was essentially the equivalency of a mass drunk text for B.C.

How rare is an interim leader winning an election? I could only find one precedent. Not just in Canada - in all Westminster countries at the national or provincial/state levels. Searched UK, Australia, NZ. Just found one. British Columbia in 1952

Tremendous thanks to the absolutely stellar elections officers of @ElectionsBC who were amazing as my parents voted today. Curbside balloting for disabled voters. Clear, patient + courteous. The best of democracy. Here's dad right after excersizing his franchise. @AparnaKurl

I admire your approach on how you discuss politics, Janice. I appreciate your voting, too. Thanks for being reasonable to talk with even if we differ on certain things (but I also know we agree on certain things, too).
