Before the world
had learnt
to call itself
beautiful,
the earth
was already turning.
Water
finding its way
through stone.
Roots
reaching into darkness
for rain.
And somewhere,
beneath the weight
of all I had learnt
to carry,
something
was waiting.
Then morning—
a spill of gold
across the floor,
a bird
lifting its song
into the air,
the green of leaves
so bright
they seemed
to pulse.
I stood
among these
small astonishments
and felt
the old world
stir within me.
The same blood
that had travelled
through generations.
The same breath
moving through
grass and feather,
through the unfurling
of a flower.
How had I forgotten?
The sky
had never stopped
being vast.
And I—
I had been here
all along.
Then the rain came.
Sudden,
silver,
alive.
I ran into it,
laughing,
my face turned
towards the heavens,
my feet
striking the earth
as though the ground
itself
were keeping time.
And something
rose in me—
not a thought,
not a prayer,
but a joy
older than language,
a wild pulse
that asked nothing
of the world
except to be
within it.
I wanted
to gather the morning
in my hands.
To sing
with the birds.
To feel the wind
rush through me
and leave
nothing untouched.
For that moment,
there was no distance
between my heart
and the living world.
Only the rain.
The light.
The earth
darkening beneath
my feet.
And slowly,
the laughter
fell quiet.
The rain softened
against my skin.
A bird
called from the trees.
Somewhere,
a leaf released
its trembling
hold on the branch.
I stood
with my face
turned to the sky,
breathing.
The world
was still the world.
The trees
held their green.
The river
kept moving
towards the sea.
And within me,
something remained—
a warmth
without a name,
a pulse
older than memory,
the quiet wonder
of being here.
Elated.
Tonight I am
running in the madness
panting at the moon
Remembering
unrestrained laughter
reserves me
a locked padded room
Soon I will be
dancing with the shadows
dreaming with the ghosts
At home with
controlled imagination
and a man full of mirth

In the Wind’s Reverie
These days,
mirrors
do more than reflect us;
they draw us in
until we lose ourselves.
Love
travels from screen to screen,
yet the warmth of a touch
remains behind the glass.
But I,
in the wind’s reverie,
paint the laughter of a kite set free
across the open sky.
I pour the weariness of my mind,
drop by drop,
into translucent bubbles
and release them to the wind,
so the sky
may reclaim
its lost face.
I want to be
so weightless
that gravity
cannot tether my dream of flight
to the ground.
I want to cross
the borders of dreams,
to where even birds
need no wings
to fly,
and the earth,
far below,
is only a fading memory
of falling.

Mid-Journey——
after the rain, the traveler
mistook the stillness of the harbor
for the weight of an anchor.
But when the tide turned,
his boat began to drift.
There was no iron beneath him.
At the end of the pier,
a woman hesitated
when someone called her second name.
Both names were hers,
neither entirely.
Beside her, a man turned two keys
over and over in his palm——
two rooms where he was loved,
neither a place he could stay.
They spoke of ordinary things——
the late ferry, the coming rain,
the sweetness of an orange
she peeled and passed around.
Across the water, harbor lights
unfolded in red, amber, and green,
their colors touching
without becoming one,
their boundaries trembling
with every passing wave.
When the ferry finally came,
its wake pulled the boat away.
The woman caught his drifting rope
and held it until the water stilled.
Then she opened her hand.
For the length of a single tide,
their shadows met upon the water,
each keeping its own darkness,
each sharing in the light.
By morning, the traveler
was drifting once again.
The faint scent of orange
still lingered on his fingers.
He had found no shore
to which he could fasten his life.
But somewhere behind him
was a harbor that had held him
without holding him still.

I’d love you with the intensity
of a thousand suns,
until the heavens wore to embers
and the ages came undone.
And when the last of all that fire
lay cold upon the blue,
I’d draw you closer in the dark,
as I have always longed to do.
My lips would find your waiting hands,
your fingers lace with mine;
and there, beneath a starless sky,
I’d love you past the end of time.
Forgiveness lasted for awhile
A smile never returned
when your name was mentioned
Escape remained the intention
mile after mile
Trying to undo the #commitment
consumes my time
Soul searches every #memory
for a sign
An answer to the why

I love you as the sun must love the moon—
forever burning toward a fleeting kiss,
condemned to find you fading all too soon,
yet rising still, for even this is bliss:
To spill my gold upon your silver skin,
to leave my warmth where I may never lie;
to watch the night receive you gently in,
then spend my life pursuing you across the sky.
And should the heavens grant us one eclipse,
one breath in which the centuries fall still,
I would surrender fire beneath your lips
and let the heavens darken as they will.
For what is light, if I must shine alone?
Let stars keep count of all the years we miss.
I would burn through every life I own
to turn eternity into a kiss.
A bit #nervous
but ever patient
I await your touch
Always cautious
a focus constant
I value your trust
Each time our lips meet
we find the love we seek
A union joyous
minus complications
impossible to corrupt
Perfection is us

To live long safe true
arise to the infinite
through layers of blue
plateaued stilled
all parts of the imperative
Freedom requires truth
the courage to follow through
once embraced by the source
determined on its course
How love directs
forever above suspect

Mid-Journey——
at a small airfield, the last light
caught on the rivets of the wing.
Beyond the window, its tip quivered
in a wind I could not feel.
My nervous fingers gripped the armrest.
The engines woke; their low vibration
climbed through the floor
and settled beneath my ribs.
Even the strongest metal trembles
before it rises into the sky.
Then the runway markings streamed past,
faster than I could count.
For one breath, the wheels held on——
and then the earth let go.
Neither the wing nor my heart
had stopped trembling——
yet both were flying.

Not a melody.
Not a promise.
Just the rain against the window,
the shade after the heat,
the quiet certainty of being somewhere your #nervous heart no longer has to prepare for the worst.
Some souls don't become songs.
They become the stillness that quiets your chaos,
the presence that softens your fear,
the silence where your nervous soul finally learns
it is safe to be home.
