The ritual is predictable and repugnant as ever!
Potemkin Party's broken gramophone has to emit- almost every other day - the same stale chorus.
Its senior political and military leaders have apparently been instructed to renew their loyalty pledges to the delusional project in some pre-arranged shift system - "ጸማም ሓደ ደርፉ!" እዩ እቲ ነገሩ።
For the umpteenth time, let us underline that the countries and peoples of the Horn do not deserve another cycle of war and turmoil that stem from, and are stoked by, the Potemkin Party's pipedreams of "grandeur" through brazen violation of the inviolable sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbors.
I wonder what the big mouth @reda_getachew is going to say about this. nitter.cf/GirmaTelk/status/21162…

#Eritrea’s Coveted Geopolitical Location and Irreplaceable Strategic Role in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa
Research and Documentation Division
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
29 October 2026
*"...Eritrea’s geopolitical significance and strategic role is deeply rooted in its geography, history, and the resilience of its people and statehood. From the earliest human migrations and the development of ancient civilizations to the emergence of the modern international system, the territory of present-day Eritrea has occupied an important position at the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East, and the wider world. Its strategic importance, already considerable in antiquity (part of this history is covered in the book ‘Periplus of the Erythraean Sea’), has assumed even greater significance in the modern era...".
*"...For countries such as Eritrea, the central challenge is to safeguard sovereignty and national security while navigating an increasingly contested geopolitical environment. The ability to withstand external pressure and maintain an independent foreign policy is consequently a significant dimension of the country’s regional position".
*"...Against this background, Eritrea’s self-reliant stance; independent foreign policy; resistance to alien/colonial occupation, sanctions and external pressures are important elements in understanding its contemporary geopolitical posture. The country’s political trajectory has been shaped by a determination to defend its sovereignty and preserve its independence under difficult regional and international circumstances".
*"...Eritrea’s contribution to regional stability must therefore be assessed in terms of both its strategic position and its conduct. Its constructive engagement with neighboring countries, solidarity with countries and peoples facing complex nation building challenges, support for peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opposition to destabilizing external interference all contribute to a more secure regional environment".

Potemkin Party minions and war mongers seem unduly exhilarated by the purchase of 12 Su-35 jet fighters from Russia.
They believe, in the ominous words of their leaders, that this will indeed enhance the regime's capability for its "pre-emptive" war of aggression; oblivious to the legal and security quagmire that this will entail and the lessons from yesterday's history.
The Potemkin Party has indulged in a massive weapons purchase spree for a long time now as the link below demonstrates.
But massive re-armament will neither advance the PP's declared agenda of regional destabilization nor alleviate the dire sufferings of almost 70% of the Ethiopian population who live under abject poverty, classified as "multidimensionally poor" in accordance with standard economic metrics.
The country is also suffering from mushrooming internal chaos and spiraling strife - the upheaval in Moyale is the latest in the string of entrenched inter-communal conflicts - which stem from a dysfunctional governance architecture.
The Potemkin Party has got all its priorities wrong and, by all accounts, it will neither listen to the voices of reason nor retreat from the perilous path that it has chosen to tread.

Will the UNSC and the AU Rein in Ethiopian’s Expansionism and Aggression?
by Adulis Tewolde
*...Today, the Horn of Africa confronts another dangerous juncture. The current Ethiopian ruling party has explicitly framed 'sovereign access to the sea' as a 'strategic imperative', that must be 'ascertained through negotiations if possible and by force if necessary'. Ethiopia’s intensive and provocative pronouncements conducted for over three years now as well as associated acts are indeed tantamount to a declaration of war. And finally, on 9 October this month, Ethiopia formally notified the UN Security Council that it has declared war against Eritrea under the preposterous allegations of 'Eritrea’s invasion''.
*"...Both the UN and the AU are intergovernmental organizations designed to reflect the collective position of their member states. In this context, it is imperative that these institutions uphold, without any equivocation, the fundamental pillars of the UN Charter and the AU’s Constitutive Act on the full respect of sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of all Member States. Indeed, respect for these principles is sine qua non for peaceful relations between States".
*"...Eritrea has already paid a heavy price for the international community’s past failures. Its long struggle for independence and its insistence on the implementation of the EEBC decisions underscore the importance of defending sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the peaceful settlement of disputes".
*"The question now is whether the institutions established to safeguard international peace and security will fulfill their responsibilities. Will the Security Council, the African Union, and the wider international community rein in Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party expansionist ambitions and deter aggression? Or will the defense of the UN Charter’s most fundamental principles once again be left to Eritrea alone, with all the catastrophic costs that such a failure entails".

To yesterday’s heroes like the Kapenguria Six, including Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, alongside Dedan Kimathi, Mekatilili wa Menza, Koitalel Arap Samoei, and Muindi Mbingu. Those who fought for freedom and sovereignty deserve a commemoration worthy of their legacy.

Reading from a teleprompter on Ethiopia's TV yesterday, the Potemkin Party's Prime Minister disparages Eritrea's economic development, and particularly its manufacturing sector, as "stagnant and in decline" since its independence in 1991.
The speech/interview was also laced with his three-year old threats of war of aggression and invasion unless Eritrea succumbs to his delusional projects of "sovereign access to the sea" and "Ethiopian naval presence" in Eritrea's coastal territory; packaged this time round in different pretexts, language, and format.
To revert to his disparaging discourse on Eritrea's economic performance and potential:
1. In the past 35 years, Ethiopia was the beneficiary of a whopping 80-90 billion US dollars of international multilateral and bilateral assistance;
2. Ethiopia went through two rounds of WB sponsored debt-cancellation rounds, as well as repetitive financial bailouts from the IMF and other donors. For almost ten years in -between, Ethiopia's dire humanitarian conditions were alleviated by the international community under a customized "social safety net" and other similar "intensive care" financial antidotes.
3. The current regime itself has received over 30 billion US dollars in international assistance in the last 8 years alone. In addition, its tattering economy is being resuscitated by another IMF bailout programme to the tune of 3.1 billion US dollars.
4. And yet, as the figures below illustrate, more than 68% Ethiopians are living under extreme poverty while close to 30 million people require urgent humanitarian relief assistance at this point in time.
5. In as far as the 300 manufacturing plants that the PP leader alludes to, these were old factories built during Italy's colonization of Eritrea from 1889 until 1941. The British Military Administration dismantled many of those factories - including the dock in Massawa - as "war booty" and sold them to other foreign countries. The occupationist Haile Selassie regime, in its turn, dismantled many of the remaining factories and transferred them to Ethiopia especially during the imposed "Federation" period.
6. After its hard-won independence in 1991, Eritrea registered rapid economic growth in the first seven years (WB reports). Imposed wars and unwarranted sanctions thereafter naturally affected the pace and magnitude of its economic trajectory.
7. These externalities have nothing to do with Eritrea's open investment and economic policies and visions.
8. And in any case, Eritrea has the abundant economic endowments (blue economy, extractive industry, educated and industrious human capital, and a civilized culture that celebrates religious and ethnic diversity within robust national unity) to excel and achieve its aspirations of rapid and sustainable growth in a conducive and enduring regional climate of peace and stability.
9. Finally, Ethiopia itself could do much better, extricate itself from debilitating dependency, and use its abundant resources for real development if its leaders abandon sectarian policies of division and polarization that incubate perennial cycles of internal turmoil as well as intertwined acts of regional destabilization in pursuit of delusional and expansionist projects.

Potemkin Party's toxic/stale chorus is grotesquely on display again.
In the link below, the official mouthpiece of the regime (Fana Broadcasting Corporation -Arabic) tries to package, in its news item today, the PP's declared war of aggression in fallacious "historical and strategic terms".
1. In the first place, Ethiopia cannot "reclaim ports and maritime route" that it never owned except during its illicit presence in the bogus "Federation" and annexation periods. Annexation and forceful occupation do not confer historical/legal title to the occupying entity. International law 101.
2. The Eritrean people had paid precious sacrifices when their right to decolonization was denied in the 1940s to satisfy overriding geopolitical interests of major powers. As a result, they had to undergo through Africa's longest liberation struggle to achieve their inalienable national rights and human dignity which should not have been denied in the first place.
3. In the event, to deny and denigrate Eritrea's independence constitutes yet another transgression and political blasphemy of the highest order.
