Biofertilizers can reduce reliance on traditional chemical fertilizers, be produced here in the U.S., and help farmers get more from every acre.
We need to make it easier to bring these technologies to market and keep American agriculture competitive.

At the IU Biotechnology Symposium at @IUIndianapolis, research organizations, industry leaders and government officials met to focus on the future of biotechnology and national security.
Participants joined leaders from the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (@biotech_gov) to discuss priorities, research opportunities and pathways for collaboration. Six research teams were also awarded funding for defense-specific projects through the Indiana University Applied Research Center and IU Launch Accelerator for Biosciences’ National Security Biotech for Defense program.

China has made biotechnology a national priority for more than two decades.
We need to ensure the next generation of biotech breakthroughs are invented, scaled, and manufactured in the United States, not by our adversaries.

Great to see @FDA announcing a renewed focus on inspecting foreign clinical trial sites. This is big step that will bring more fairness to U.S. vs. CCP biotechnology competition. Chinese biotech companies shouldn’t be getting away with an easier standard.
Clinical trial data — wherever collected — must be reliable, inspectable, and ethically derived. If FDA can't inspect a site, that's a material factor in your regulatory strategy, not a footnote.
Good clinical practice protects patients. The FDA will enforce it. fda.gov/news-events/fda-voic…
Emerging biotechnologies are creating new opportunities to treat—and even cure—conditions once thought untreatable. An all-of-government strategy can accelerate innovation, modernize regulation, and help therapies reach patients faster.

Biotechnology will shape the future of medicine, agriculture, manufacturing, and national security.
That's why I introduced the Biotechnology Diplomacy Leadership Act to establish a dedicated biotechnology leader at the State Department who will coordinate America's global biotechnology strategy, strengthen partnerships with our allies, and ensure the United States, not China, sets the standard for the future of biotechnology.

Excellent column from @dzakheim on how biotechnology “involves a whole-of-government national security enterprise that ranges from agriculture, to energy, to health, to education.” American biotech is vital to outcompeting China.

Congrats to the new bipartisan House Biotech Caucus for holding its inaugural leadership meeting. The NSCEB applauds Co-Chairs @RepBice and @RepHoulahan and Vice Chairs @RepRoKhanna, @RepAuchincloss, Rep. @PeteSessions, and @RepGusBilirakis for their leadership.
Just as the United States should be the place where the world’s most innovative scientific discoveries come to market, so too should America. be home to the most innovative work to develop the sciences of biosafety and biosecurity.

Joined @NTI_WMD’s biosecurity and AI briefing today to discuss the future and potential of American biotech.
Protecting U.S. leadership in biotech is vital to our national security and economic competitiveness.
#Biotech is not just an engine of economic growth. Leadership in this sector is a strategic capability that will help define America’s future security and resilience.
I am proud that my bipartisan amendment on emerging biotechnologies was included in this year's National Defense Authorization Act. And I thank my fellow BioTech Caucus members, @RepRoKhanna, @petesessions, and @repgusbilirakis for their partnership.

This hot-mic moment between Xi and Putin supports what I’ve long been saying - the United States MUST lead in biotechnology.
Congress should pass the recommendations proposed by @biotech_gov to secure American dominance in biotech.
In a hot-mic conversation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russia’s Vladimir Putin captured by the Chinese-state media broadcaster CCTV prior to yesterday’s celebration and military parade in Beijing, the two leaders can be heard discussing human organ transplants and the possibility of living to 150 or even forever. While walking towards Tiananmen Square for the parade, Putin’s translator could be heard saying in Chinese, “Biotechnology is continuously developing.” The translator added, after an inaudible passage by Putin to Xi, “human organs can be continuously transplanted. The longer you live, the younger you become, and (you can) even achieve immortality.”

Replying to @SenToddYoung
I have been spearheading many of the plan’s recommendations through my work in the Senate and as Chair of the National Security Commission on Biotechnology, including:
· Examining where burdensome regulations exist that prohibit innovation and the voluntary deployment of AI by the private sector
· Ensuring our workforce can meet the demands of the future
· Strategic and targeted investments in the development and manufacturing of AI and the emerging technologies that will shape the 21st century
· Ensuring the U.S. builds a holistic AI pipeline so we are the ones setting the global standards and protecting our private sector from complying with differing rules across the world
· Establishing strategic export controls to ensure American companies can collaborate with allies and partners, while securing our most sensitive technologies from theft by adversaries
🇺🇸 Biotech is not just a frontier of innovation, but a cornerstone of national security 🇺🇸
The Senate Intelligence Committee passed the FY26 Intelligence Authorization Act with six NSCEB recommendations.
