Here’s the latest iteration of the LA2028 Olympic Boomers Roster Tracker 🇦🇺🦘🏀
For obvious reasons, Patty Mills & Bryce Cotton both fly up the charts to a new category - “It’s like 50/50”. It just didn’t seem right to say either one of them has a better chance over the other, and I wouldn’t be able to say it’s “pretty likely” that both of them make the roster either.
Ben Simmons new life bumps him up on the list too. How he’ll look in game, and the position he’ll play is still a mystery, but based on recent comments from other players & coaches, it seems like he may have a real chance if he stays healthy and committed.
By no fault of his own, Lachlan Olbrich has fallen on the list. I say it frequently - Olbrich is a special player, but with Kay, Cooks, Reath and now Simmons in the mix at the combo big spot, Olbrich will have to earn his spot! Similarly, Jack McVeigh falls on the list. I originally had McVeigh as an “Almost Lock”, but with Proctor, Cotton & Mills all in the mix, McVeigh’s added scoring punch isn’t as essential as it was at the start of the year.
Until Johnny Furphy is back in action, he’ll be dropped down a rung. So too will Reyne Smith - who’s struggled a bit in recent Boomers showings, and with the emergence of Cotton, Smith’s chances look slim at best.
Taking his spot is Matthew Dellavedova, who’s never quit attitude has him looking like a real contender to take a 2nd or 3rd string PG spot.

Tyrese Proctor, not Craig Porter Jr, the first guard off the bench with Meleek out tonight.
Interesting Kenny going with a guard still over Mario.
Australians know how to play good, team basketball 🇦🇺
Made a pretty substantial update to my metric for quantifying “Basketball IQ.”
Same idea as in 2024: measuring on-court decision-making, not grading anyone’s intelligence.
The full table is live. Top 10 in the image.
#NBA
Game 1️⃣: 2 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists
Game 2️⃣: 2 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists
Game 3️⃣: 4 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists
Game 4️⃣: 5 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist
Game 5️⃣: 7 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists
Luke Paul seems to be getting naturally more comfortable, and is showing why there is so much hype around him 📈
Gees @CairnsTaipans Luke Paul really impressive with his decisive decision making passing the ball instantaneously! Great IQ for a young guy! Huge future! 🤛
It’s only been 4 games and 3 quarters, it Matisse Thybulle is currently shooting 53% from 3 on almost 5 attempts per game 🎯

I have to imagine there are few minimum signings better than Matisse Thybulle so far.
This has added years to his NBA career
Matisse Thybulle's no-dip 3s aren't just a useful part of his shot package, but they stem from the process he went through to change his shot mechanics.
Matisse to @capostsports: "My shot has never been something I was confident in. It was always like an insecurity of mine...we decided to just like stick with the changes that we were doing, trust the work and not really worried too much about the results for a little bit.
"And so far it's worked out."
TBD = Twenty-degree swing, Bring a jumper, Drizzle by 3pm = Melbourne 😂
Practice for when we beat them in the semis 🇦🇺

Matisse Thybulle took the Lakers' famous No. 4. His jumper came with it.
Now Adam Caporn has a problem - and Bryce Cotton is part of it.

Alex Dickeson seems to have found a great home with Colorado. In their 3-point win vs North Texas, Dickeson was their top scorer with 15 points 👀

Josh Green making his debut and is immediately making a positive impact. A nice assist to Hayes and then draws the offensive foul while face guarding Reaves 💪🏻
Matisse Thybulle has been so good for the Lakers ‼️
11 points, 3 steals, 1 block, 0 turnovers (3/6 from 3) in 18 minutes so far.
JJ Reddick has done a great job of playing him to his strengths, and it’s paying off. The biggest knock on Thybulle has been his shooting, but he has a formidable no-dip spot-up 3, and that’s all he’s really being asked to do on that end.
Since 2024, he’s averaged 42% from 3 on 6.6 attempts per 36. That sounds pretty good to me…
On the other end, his Defence is obviously special 🔒

Tyrese Proctor made his minutes count! 🏀
The Aussie contributed 5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in Cleveland’s 125–121 win over Brooklyn, shooting 2/3 from the field in 11 minutes.

#Cavs second-year guard Tyrese Proctor was the beneficiary of Sam Merrill's first-half foul trouble. And Proctor took advantage of the opportunity, with 5 points and 2 assists in 7 minutes.
