Ukraine. Our land. Given by God. Kissed by the sun. Rocked by the winds. Tempered by fire. Defended by its sons and daughters. It cannot be mistaken for anything else. It can never be given away to anyone. Happy Independence Day of Ukraine!

Neurons are often represented as isolated, but in reality they packed very tightly. Tyler Sloan made this animation showing 364 neurons packed into a box roughly the size of a grain of sand. [HD: buff.ly/3WoadGZ] [author: buff.ly/3j1jnuG]

Ever wondered why you wake up even when the alarm clock isn't making jarring noises? Your body has a protein called PER that determines when you wake up. You may wake up X minutes before the alarm, to prepare your body for the stress caused by the alarm ow.ly/s4nw30o8Ioc

First post! I built a nootropics recommender system, and through it I gathered a ton of nootropic ratings. Here are some of the things I learned: 👇 troof.blog/posts/nootropics/

Certainly physically possible. We’re working on bridging broken links between brain & body. Neuralinks in motor & sensory cortex bridging past weak/broken links in neck/spine to Neuralinks in spinal cord should theoretically be able to restore full body functionality.

It is an electronics/mechanical/software engineering problem for the Neuralink device that is similar in complexity level to smart watches (which are not easy!), plus the surgical robot, which is comparable to state-of-the art CNC machines. No need for AI/ NN/ML quite yet.

Current generation Neuralinks can help to some degree, but an advanced case of Alzheimers often involves macro degeneration of the brain. However, Neuralinks should theoretically be able restore almost any functionality lost due *localized* brain damage from stroke or injury.

Maintaining blood-brain barrier integrity may be key to the prevention of brain aging. Approximately half of all dementias (!), including Alzheimer’s, may ultimately begin with the breakdown of the smallest blood vessels in the brain. nature.com/articles/s41591-0…
