Going through cards and this caught my eye (because I was at the game) Instead of using a Reds picture (which there are tons of them out there)… Topps photoshopped a Reds jersey onto the picture of Mariners Eugenio Suarez hitting the grand slam against the Blue Jays in game 5 of the ALCS last year. One of the biggest home runs in Seattle Mariners history and Topps decided it should be a Reds card 😭😭

my hot take is that changing jerseys for commercial purposes needs to be barred in the next CBA. This hurts the story of baseball, it hurts collectors and is just lazy.

Suarez wore #7 previously with the Reds, but #28 this year. So something would have to be photoshopped anyway. And Suarez does this after every home run. Not to defend Topps but this seems like a silly thing to get upset about.

Yep… @Topps did the same thing with Jorge Polanco’s 2026 Series 2 card. They used the photo from the Mariners vs Tigers 15th inning ALDS Game 5 walk-off single. Huge M’s home (& playoffs) game memory dipped in a Mets away jersey.

These Chrome cards are based on Series 1, right? I’m not saying they shouldn’t update his team, but I assume they were finalized over the winter since Series 1 releases before spring training. Still, they could’ve chosen a less recognizable image to Photoshop.
