Nailed it!
The Brewers are being celebrated like they invented baseball. They are doing things that have become unusual. They have an old school tough manager who players love playing for. They focus on basic easy to understand basic fundamentals. They have a hitting coach that was an overachieving player for skill that played in the big leagues. They hit the ball the other way. They value putting the ball in play. They adjust their approach based on situation and count. They are not addicted to exit velocity and launch angle bullshit. They bunt and steal bases. They do not have selfish superstars that need to be treated like celebrities. The Brewers simply play the game how it was meant to be played.

🔒 1st-down reception I’m a playmaker who finds the ball, creates turnovers, and changes games. I’ve proven what I can do on the field. Now I’m ready to bring that same impact to the next level. To say I’m proud of this group’s unwavering determination is an understatement. Great day to be a Northwest Texan. #TexanPride
District 4-6A is wild. Feels like any team can compete at a high level on any given night. #TXHSFB I must say, I didn't think 0-7 Northwest would beat 6-1 Keller by 13 points. No one did. Massive win for the Texans. @NISDAthletics

Hey Coaches, Someday, someone else will have your job. They’ll sit in your office, wear your gear, and lead the program you once called yours. That’s not meant to diminish the importance of your work. It’s simply a reminder that we’re all replaceable professionally. But there are roles in your life that nobody else can fill. Your children only have one you. Your spouse only has one you. Don’t become so consumed with being excellent in a role that someone else can eventually fill that you neglect the roles that only you can fulfill. I’m all for pursuing excellence in your profession. But just make sure you're bringing that same commitment to the roles that only you can fulfill.

Pitching>Throwing #shegone
Justin Verlander reveals the game that convinced him to stop throwing as hard as he could “The whole knock on me early in my career was that I threw too many pitches. I’d throw 120 pitches, but I was only going six innings.” “I had a game in Boston where we really needed me to get deep in the game. Our bullpen was shot. I go out the first couple innings, and I look up and I’ve got sixty-something pitches.” “To me, the most important thing for that game was to chew innings. I was like, ‘I can’t keep this pace.’ So I ended up slowing myself down. I was throwing fastballs at 89. I threw a changeup in that game at 91 and threw a fastball at 89 in the same game.” “I just pulled the throttle way back. I was like, ‘Man, here, hit it. Put it in play.’ All of a sudden, I was like, ‘Man, I am really able to hit my spot.’” “I basically took that mentality and flipped it going into the next season. Let me try starting games like this and then building up as I go. If I get in trouble, I’ve always got it in my back pocket.” “I always viewed it from the hitter’s perspective as you’re facing three different pitchers in three different at-bats, and they’re progressively getting harder to hit.”

It doesn’t matter how famous you are, how much money you make or what you do for a living. You can be one of the most recognizable people in the world. You can have all the success, awards and accomplishments anyone could dream of. But at the end of the day, there’s someone who doesn’t care about any of that. Someone who looks at you like you’re their whole world. Who thinks you walk on water. Who just wants your time, your hugs and to know you’re there. They don’t call you famous. They don’t call you successful. They just call you Dad. ❤️ And that’s the most important title any man will ever have.

Nick Saban explains the difference between a mistake that deserves getting chewed out and one that deserves encouragement “I always sort of had a lot of respect for the fact that any player that’s a competitor wants to do well. And I think when you start with that, you have a better perspective because you look at things from their perspective, not your perspective. And I think that’s very helpful.” “Sometimes when guys are not doing intangible things, whether it’s giving effort or focusing or making mental errors or things that they can actually control, that is something that you can’t tolerate. And you really want to maybe sometimes get after a guy a little bit for it.” “But when guys are doing those things and just not having success, I think that’s when you want to pat them on the back and get them to believe in themselves and have an understanding if they continue to do things the right way, they will eventually have success.” “And every player’s different. Sometimes you got guys that are obsessive-compulsive type personalities that are really hard on themselves, and I don’t think you need to get on those guys because they’re already getting on themselves.” “Then you have other guys that may not be self-starters, and you got to push them a little bit more to get them to be what they’re capable of being. I think all those things were factors in how you kind of approach a player and try to get him to be the best he can be.” “I always tried to focus on the individual and not look at it like one size fits all, and try to take the best approach with that particular guy to help him have success.”

I’ve gotten to interact with Coach in only a handful of times in my career when Clemson was in their hay day, and this is who he was then as well. Worth listening to!
“God’s on the throne. Football don’t define me… Even if I never win another game, God is still good.. My peace comes from knowing that God’s on the throne.” - Clemson HC Dabo Swinney when discussing if he allows himself to feel the eternal pressures

Somewhere in America 1) a kid is prepared to lie about these being stolen 2) a ref is eager to throw a flag for thinking they’re not being worn 3) a coach is losing his mind over both 1 & 2 4) the pad itself, at its current production size, is not saving a single knee

JORGE POSADA: “I CAN’T WATCH TODAY’S BASEBALL.” Yankees legend Jorge Posada, a 4-time World Series champion and one of the faces of the dynasty years, (The Core 4) did not hold back during his interview on Abriendo El Podcast. Posada said today’s game has become too robotic, too obsessed with formulas, and too accepting of strikeouts. “The baseball being played today is garbage,” Posada said. He also pushed back hard on the analytics crowd trying to judge Derek Jeter’s defense strictly through modern numbers. “You can’t judge Jeter through a computer.” That line right there is pure old-school Yankees. Posada came from an era where putting the ball in play mattered. Moving runners mattered. Taking pride in not striking out mattered. He said back then, striking out 100 times in a season felt like you were not doing your job. Now? Guys can strike out constantly, hit 30 home runs, bat .202, and still get paid like stars. His message was simple: The game got smarter on paper, but dumber between the lines. #yankees #repbx

American Legion players play with area kids they grew up with, representing their local communities, not a corporate brand. Pure baseball without the 4 games on Sunday money grab. No team is EVER supposed to play 4 games in a day. That’s not exposure, that’s be exposed.
