I don’t think that statement was fair, personally. OCD might change how someone approaches BDSM. It might mean certain dynamics, uncertainties, rituals, reassurance loops, contamination fears, intrusive thoughts, or control themes need more awareness and communication. But that’s very different from saying someone can never be a good sub or a good fit for BDSM. Kink isn’t a factory setting where everyone arrives with the same brain chemistry and gets stamped “compatible” or “incompatible” like luggage at an airport, no. A good dynamic is usually built around communication, compatibility, self-awareness, boundaries, honesty, adaptation, emotional safety. Not around being neurologically “perfect.” The fact you’re doing ERP matters a lot here too, because it suggests you’re already engaging with your OCD thoughtfully and actively developing tools around it. Could some dynamics be unhealthy for you specifically? Possibly. That can be true for literally anyone, OCD or not. But there are plenty of neurodivergent people, people with OCD, ADHD, autism, anxiety disorders, trauma histories, etc. who participate in kink in healthy, fulfilling, ethical ways. A Dom worth listening to should be helping someone understand themselves and their limits, not handing down a prophecy from atop Mount Leather saying “thou shalt never kneel.”
