obvious breach of the CAS decision - at this point, chess just has to be kicked out of the IOC
I thought Polina Shuvalova wasn't playing this month, but she's actually in the Asian Women's Team Championship! (now called the Nations Cup)
I don't think it will be enough for Polina to stay No. 1, but she can try!

the plan was always for dvorko to carry on as he has since he “resigned” - turlov, sutovsky, pein etc were always perfectly aware of this
Dvorkovich 🇷🇺 still seems to be running @FIDE_chess
Sanctioned by the EU 🇪🇺, he is in principle banned from FIDE events, but practically the reality seems to be 180 degrees the opposite.
Turlov is the " de jure" FIDE President, Dvorkovich the de facto.
is there an actual title at stake? i thought this was just a pilot event

i admire the determination to run full speed back into the mistakes freestyle made
it's already hard enough to explain chess to the public - an overly complicated format just adds an extra barrier
just run a knockout
Total Chess format explained 🧐:
24 players are divided into 4 groups, where they each play 10 fast classical games.
The winner of each group advances to the semifinals, where all three time formats come into play: Blitz, Rapid and Fast Classical. 👀
The pilot event takes place from November 10–20, testing the format ahead of the launch of the Total Chess Tour in March 2027.

you should be able to check your phone a few times during a classical game. not the engine, just doomscrolling and stuff

We've been missing the Olympiad, fortunately, we took photos of EVERY SINGLE TEAM while they were at the board! As far we know no-one else has done that before.
If you want to see all the photos you can go to chessfam.com/photos
P.S. They are all free to download!
well, turlov was lying. these jobs were given out to people who were campaigning on turlov's behalf - there was never going to be an open application
Now FIDE President Timur Turlov @turlov @TurlovforChess
promised pre-elections he would have an open application process for jobs in FIDE.
What happened ?
so did nigel short get fired? you should lead with that!

I'm asking friends & colleagues for a one-time bit of support this year, as the cost of the daily medications I need for the treatment of my primary medical conditions has-despite all efforts-exceeded what I can afford.
