What have I done in this life to keep having absolute losers coach my football club?
❗️❗️Xabi Alonso: "This is the least important competition for us. The Premier League is now the main focus." [Sky via CBS]

He’s legit the Spanish Sean Dyche, we’re fucked
🚨 Alonso on low possession stats : "What I want is to win the game. I want that we are better with the ball. I think that we can do better and we were not at our best. It's not that significant. The possession can be 60, it can be 40, 30 as long as you create chances and you have chances to score goals and win games. That's the most important" (@BobbyVincentFL)

Reading this and baffled by the poor questions, nothing tactical, I want to know about the timing and choice of his subs, the readiness to give up so much possession at home

Myha’la, the only person I was interested in watching on Celebrity Traitors when the lineup was announced, already gone ofc while no-marks like Kenny carry on, and Rob and Romesh continue to not be funny 🙄

Xhaka needs to know that Konsa is from Newham. There’s no fake hard man act with him. Will literally wait for you outside.

Standard of football journalism from a lot of the ppl that get let into press conferences continues to aim high I see
"He was already in a big club..." 🎥 As broadcast by @HaytersTV, #CFC's previous head coach on #Chelsea's former midfielder's comments about joining a 'big club' after leaving Chelsea:

Nathan Cofnas is the man behind the Jason Arday story. Here’s who he actually is. In February 2024, Cofnas wrote a blog post claiming that under a “meritocracy,” Black people would “disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment.” He called racial equality “based on lies.” Cambridge’s Emmanuel College cut ties with him over it. The Leverhulme Trust, which funded his research, disavowed him and opened its own investigation. He sued Emmanuel College for discrimination. He lost. Cambridge’s own disciplinary body dismissed all 58 complaints against him, ruling it fell under free speech protections. He then moved to Ghent University in Belgium. Over 300 staff and students there protested his hiring, questioning whether his views were compatible with the university’s ethics code. This is the man who spent months going through a Black professor’s PhD thesis and personal history, then published it on Substack. That’s what triggered Cambridge’s investigation into Jason Arday. This context is missing from nearly all the coverage. A self-described “race realist,” who argued Black professors would basically disappear under merit alone, is the one who decided which Black professor deserved scrutiny. Black professors: under 1% of the UK total. Black academics reaching professor level: 3.8%. This isn’t the first case. It won’t be the last. Go under the original post and see how overt racism works.
The extraordinary case of Professor Jason Arday As high-profile Cambridge professor Jason Arday resigns after a string of allegations about plagiarism, @kirancmoodley explores what this complex story really reveals about academia. Read our latest newsletter: channel4news.substack.com/p/…

Hey @thetimes, have you considered turning off the ongoing advert you have running on your Jason Arday hit piece on here? Seeing it appear below news tweets about his death is ghoulish

Final comment on this, but I can’t even begin to get my head around the extreme lack of empathy inside the many people I see on here tonight commenting on this tragic death with dispassionate coldness, a nation of ghouls

Emma Hayes’ analysis has been the only good thing to come out of the “hydration break” this tournament, but sexist arseholes who think the game just consists of ‘get ball in box, score goal, wooo’ will never drop their caveman prejudices ofc
