This is what happens when the hospitality industry in particular takes a financial hit. Not good.

That’s a great player you’ve picked up there @AlexReilley1 🐈‍⬛ >🚜 . Dan Neil has been one of the most impactful academy players for us and a colossal contribution as captain to help get us promoted last season.

So proud of the team. This is a very special award as it voted for directly by our wonderful customers. Testament to an amazing consumer focussed team who deliver outstanding hospitality day in day out @CameronsBrewery @headofsteamHQ
The Pub Group of the Year award, voted by thousands of consumers via @CGA_insights, goes to #NorthEast outfit @CameronsBrewery, indicating that the UK’s pub and bar goers are super keen on venues operated by independent breweries. A big well done!

'Stay home' advice as Arctic blast brings snow - utter scaremongering nonsense from the ⁦@BBCNews all the time⁩ - just been out for a 10 mile run in beautiful North Yorkshire in glorious frosty conditions. What have we become…. Totally woke bbc.com/news/articles/cj49jn…

For the time being, the inflation threat is over. Wage inflation a bit higher than CPI is much more desirable than increased unemployment. @bankofengland should lower interest rates to sustainable rate of around 3-3.5% now, rather than keep looking in rear view mirror and not see what's coming down the road ahead.
In the year to January 2024: ▪️ Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) rose by 4.2%, the same rate as December. ▪️ Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 4.0%, unchanged from 4.0% in December. ➡️ ons.gov.uk/economy/inflation…

While the trade associations are seemingly celebrating- this is the reality…
THE FARCE Business rates support is a continuation of existing support (& is vital to many). A beer duty freeze is just that - a ‘freeze’ & is worth absolute buttons. The cost of inflation-busting NLW is being picked up by business not the govt (along with the employers NI...

The autumn statement delivered a c£800k inc to us (c30 pubs) for 2024 That’s before any beer, food or energy cost inc Prices will go up by c4% just to cover this. c20p per pint already. As a multiple operator we don’t benefit from rates relief. Who’s celebrating a duty freeze?

Absolutely this. Not sure why anyone is celebrating victories. A nail in the coffin for many in hospitality businesses.
As expected there is nothing in this budget for SME hospitality businesses apart from a 10% increase in wage cost. As an industry we need to have a fundamental rethink on how we communicate with government as the current approach isn't working. #ukhospitality

Why is the £ of a pint rocketing? Energy, NMW, rent, food and beer costs plus interest rates, per pub, our costs have inc. by c£100k / yr / pub on avg in 23. Now another c£25k plus per pub for 2024 NMW. Support NMW but something has to give or there will be no pubs left.

Left this until the last but having watched the BBC pre-race coverage, I am compelled to raise at least a small amount of money for MND. Training has been limited, leg bandaged, this is going to be a challenge. Please make my pain worthwhile by supporting this great cause. TY
