Brilliant.
Poor old Lizzie @trussliz she’s the spice head staggering around the city centre hoping someone takes pity on them. Bless her.
Hilarious statement from a man that conned his way into the ownership of the club (settled via a court case) and then had a points deduction imposed for not paying bills on time and suppliers issuing winding up orders.
If he didn’t have sense enough to place a security on the debt he was owed he deserves everything he gets, which is hopefully fuck all.
As I understand the insolvency process the matter is no longer anything to do with Sheffield United football club.

A statement from United World, former owners of Sheffield United:
United World notes the comments made on BBC Radio Sheffield by Sheffield United’s chief executive, Mr Stephen Bettis.
We believe Sheffield United supporters and the wider community deserve a clear and accurate picture of the situation.
We welcome Mr Bettis’s public confirmation that the sum owed to United World is not in dispute. The price for the club was agreed in a binding contract between fully advised parties, and that sum remains due. The company through which the owners bought the club has been wound up by the High Court for failing to pay this debt. Independent liquidators have been appointed and are now responsible for its affairs.
Contrary to Mr Bettis’s suggestion that discussions are ongoing, United World is not and has not been in negotiations with the owners, despite several attempts by us to reach out to them. Changes in the club’s fortunes since completion, including decisions the owners have themselves acknowledged as mistakes, are not a basis for revisiting an agreed price.
When the sale completed, the club was, as Mr Bettis himself acknowledged, at the top of the Championship, with a young squad capable of competing for promotion. We are saddened to see where the club stands today. The players sold this summer were recruited during United World’s ownership and, on Mr Bettis’s own account, the proceeds of those sales will not all be reinvested in the team.
United World remains committed to recovering the sum owed through the proper legal process.

Football has been a massive part of my life since I was five. Always playing and watching as a kid and young adult.
But over the last few years I can feel myself falling out with it.
Constant cheating on and off the pitch. VAR making some games unwatchable. The money and corruption is now in plain sight.
It might have something to do with the fact I don’t play any more, kids entertain me on weekends now and I’ve found other interests.
Im finding myself less interested in it as time goes on. I’m not really bothered about watching the big games anymore. Missed City v Liverpool today for example.
Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?
Whittaker is the biggest con job in boxing for years.
The hype around such an average fighter because he got a few insta likes is embarrassing.
ABSOLUTE MADNESS!
Can someone explain how the referee hasn't given at least 1 count here?
Opposite way around Conor Wallace was being counted....
Thoughts?

If Farage isn’t preaching hate, he’s lost. He wouldn’t know leadership if it bit him on the arse and anyone who thinks he’s fit for office needs to give their head a wobble.

The irony.
Youth unemployment is growing exponentially since labour came to power and made it too expensive to give young people their first job.
Until they address their myopic national insurance rise little will change.

Total garbage and a bizarre take. Beer throwing a national sport?
You need to get off insta mate and go watch some actual football down the pub. Zero pints thrown I can assure you.
Beer throwing seems a national sport at times. Ball, net, beer, air. It would be unwise of clubs to allow their stadia’s stands on match-days to be used for this new national sport. Unless you have a designated drinking/beer-throwing section - hard in packed PL grounds - it is hard to see how drinking alcohol in the stands will be universally welcomed. Issues of faith. Issues of not wanting to be showered in beer. Utter soak nonsense.
Issues of VAR complicating timing of these lager launches. Issues of drinkers bearing trays returning to their seats, distracting everyone in their row from the game. Excuse me, excuse me. Spillage.
Issues of a few minutes later the return run with an empty tray and full bladder. There are enough interruptions in the game anyway. And stewards are often busy enough without dealing with the occasional over-imbiber.
English football has changed and the trouble on the terraces has largely disappeared. The concern over the return of drinking in the stands is less the consumption but the projection. The PM is right to consider ways of helping clubs wanting to maximise revenue - and alcohol sales is one way. But the complications are considerable. It’s a hangover English football doesn’t need.
And ending the ban could impact local pubs - many of which have been under threat. British Beer and Pub Association claims that almost two a day are going out of business (161 in first quarter of 2026 inc 2,600 jobs).
Football has bigger issues than debating repealing the booze ban.
My business has taken a bit of stick over the last 24 hours and so I felt compelled to blog about it and defend the fantastic business we have built over the years;
Andy Burnham has just thrown the proverbial pint amongst the pigeons.
A couple of days ago the news broke that our new Prime Minister was going to scrap the law that bans drinking alcohol in view of the pitch. Common sense, I thought. I hate having to queue for 12 minutes at half-time, then swig my pint in three minutes so I don’t miss the dire football Sheffield United serve up on any given Saturday.
Within 24 hours the pile-on had started. “You can’t have beer in the stands,” they cried. “It will be BOXPARK mayhem down at the Kassam,” went the chorus. Then the columnists got involved: Daniel Storey of the i Paper, Mike Walters of the Mirror, Jack Elsom, Henry Winter and of course MailOnline, with “BOXPARK culture” referenced over and over again.
So let’s get the context straight.
Under the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985, it’s a criminal offence even to have an alcoholic drink in any area where you can see the pitch, from two hours before kick-off until an hour after the final whistle. Just think about that for a second – it’s a criminal offence for me to finish my half-time beer in my seat on matchday. Does that sound remotely sensible? It feels like we truly are living in a nanny state. It shouldn’t even be up for debate, should it?
As for the whataboutery that people will throw drinks in moments of euphoria: you can already have a drink in your seat on matchday, just not an alcoholic one, and not once have I seen Old John, who sits next to me, chuck his Bovril in Sheila’s face when the Blades got that third against Wednesday last season.
It’s true that on very specific occasions, throwing pints in the air has become part of how the nation celebrates, and BOXPARK has become synonymous with it over the years. But let’s get this in perspective: it only happens at England matches during major tournaments, and not even for every goal. That’s a world away from a wet Tuesday night at Ewood Park or wherever you watch your football. You can count on your fingers the games where pints have been thrown at BOXPARK over the last 12 months, and in 2025 it didn’t happen once.
BOXPARK is one of the safest environments you could hope to watch a game in, and it’s without doubt the most fun. Our record at this summer’s World Cup backs that up: we welcomed tens of thousands of fans and didn’t have a single major incident. Our view is, and always will be, that people should be trusted to enjoy themselves responsibly. We don’t subscribe to the nanny-state view that someone else gets to dictate what fun looks like, and we don’t think the government should either.
As a season ticket holder, and someone who watches live sport all over the world, I believe treating football fans like children belongs in a different century. Rugby and cricket fans drink in their seats every weekend and the sky hasn’t fallen in. We can control ourselves; we won’t be drinking 10 pints during the game (it’s too expensive if nothing else) and I certainly won’t be lobbing my costly pint of Alpacalypse at Old John… or Sheila for that matter.
Finally, I applaud Andy Burnham for some common-sense politics. Some in the media have accused him of virtue signalling; in my view it’s the exact opposite. Andy, if you’re reading this my old china, you’re more than welcome to come and watch an Everton game at BOXPARK whenever you like pal – and I promise to keep my Bovril to myself.
My business getting some stick in the light of @andyburnham proposal to allow drinking during games.
1. Pint throwing only occurs during England matches at major tournaments.
2. No one will be throwing a drink after a goal at Blackburn vs Norwich.
🧵
5. You will not find a safer venue to watch live sport in than @boxpark
We had tens of thousands of fans through our doors during the World Cup and didn’t have one major incident.
6. @henrywinter rather than just pontificating about clips you’ve seen on socials why don’t you come to @boxpark pick any game you like this season, I will host you, you won’t get one drop of beer thrown at you and I promise you will have a lot of fun.

OK, can we just clear this one up. If you say "You can't be English if you're not white" that's racist. It's the literal definition of racism. You can't justify it. You can't intellectualise it with rubbish about Anglo Saxons and "what if I was in Japan". It's racist. That's it.
Heartbreaking.
Thought that was the best we’ve played this season and the three of Peck, Blaster and Philips is really exciting - we deserved a point.
Their bench were a set of absolute shithouses btw and I hope they spend a long time in this division.

Assuming Seriki is still out, this is how I would like to see us line up this evening.
The chances of Wilder going for something like this are almost zero IMO.
What needs to change from last Saturdays shit show?
