Interesting thing. Someone’s just pointed out that almost all the staff who were on the Durham trip with Keir have since left his office. You know how all the witnesses to the Kennedy assassination died or disappeared in mysterious circumstances….
Labour are in trouble on this. And they clearly know it.
“Could he just outline where that reallocated capital spending will come from?”
Cue this rant at the Despatch Box from Wes Streeting to hide his discomfort at not knowing the answer to a straightforward question.
Stroppy, brittle and clearly not across the detail. Today the new Defence Secretary was found out.
Perhaps he should spend less time on his profile and more time getting on top of his brief?
The questions haven’t even got difficult yet.

Remember… the only reason this is a story is because Farage himself chose to raise it.
Bonkers.
‘It's absolutely laughable... he was the one that grabbed me and pushed me out the way.’
Lib Dem MP Caroline Voaden addresses her ‘altercation’ with Nigel Farage, which he says led him to miss yesterday’s Budget.
@TomSwarbrick1
One other thing. Whatever happened, we know there was a "physical altercation" because Nigel Farage revealed it yesterday. And we also know it was serious enough Farage remembered the incident, and decided he couldn't attend the Budget as a result.

I also asked Reform today if they can confirm Farage received correspondence, and I've had no direct response.
The House of Commons press office says it doesn't comment on individual conduct or security matters, or correspondence with Members
This is actually a serious allegation now. The House of Commons authorities have an obligation to confirm or deny if this incident was reported, and if any action was taken. If they don't, all this talk about protecting MPs and staff in the workplace is meaningless.

Yes I think this is exactly what he will do
Very obvious what Andy Burnham's tactic will be now. He'll pop up next year and say "I didn't want to have to call an early election. But these issues - defence, welfare reform, social care - are too big to put off any longer. I need a mandate to tackle them".

Replying to @DPJHodges
I've been asking the question for a while - they say they don't comment on correspondence or conduct!
Again. This is not sustainable.

No I didn’t say that. He grabbed me and shoved me out of the way - I think a colleague said I was sent flying but I wasn’t.
It all happened before this clip
Surely this can be quickly confirmed or denied by the Sergeant at Arms.
🚨Exclusive: 'He grabbed me by the arm' and 'shoved me out of the way' - 'It's just absolutely fantasy to say that it was the Liberal Democrats that started it.'
Lib Dem MP @CarolineVoaden tells me she was 'startled' after a physical altercation with Nigel Farage during the state opening of parliament
The South Devon MP says she reported what happened to the Sergeant at Arms, who told her Farage had been told to apologise (but she says she has never received one).
Reform maintains 'it's not true at all' and 'this is typical Lib Dem dishonesty in an attempt to stay relevant', while the Lib Dem frontbencher @mpmwilko backs up Voaden's account.
Fair question. And it raises another issue. It's not just that Labour is now putting welfare ahead of defence. With Healey's latest statement, they're putting welfare before many other priorities. Education. Health. Policing. The welfare budget has effectively been ring fenced.
It's like I wrote yesterday. This is not sustainable. And Ministers know it's not sustainable. Which is why they must be planning for a snap election. You can't seriously govern like this.

John Healey has come full circle on welfare in a day. This morning he told the BBC's Today programme he'd cut welfare spending before the election. Now he tells @Channel4News: 'It's not correct to say that we're going to bring this welfare bill down in this Parliament...'
OK. So it now appears the clip is completely irrelevant.
Replying to @Tony_Diver
FWIW, the alleged shoving is claimed to have taken place before the start of this clip. The Parliament cameras only cut to this shot as they were leaving the Chamber.
I mean, that seems pretty definitive.
Now more clarity from the man himself:
John Healey tells Channel 4 News: "It's not correct to say that we're going to bring this welfare bill down in this Parliament because we've not set a timetable for that."
