As expected, I hear that @UKLabour and its wishy washy “I believe in lots of things” NI Secretary @RhonddaBryant are to present a Sinn Fein and Dublin approved, NI Troubles Bill to Parliament on 19 Oct that will not protect previously investigated, ageing and honourable veterans from persecution by never-ending, lawyer-enriching, country-weakening process.

A striking reminder that 13 of the 28 (inc mat leave) shadow cabinet are women
If you're wondering why the cost of your haircut has shot up, it's because salons are getting hammered by the jobs tax, soaring business rates and higher utility bills.
To survive, many are asking staff to go down the self-employed, rent-a-chair route that brings them under the VAT threshold. That makes things even tougher for those salons still directly employing people.
The hair and beauty industry lost 1 in 5 employees last year - it’s the largest loss of employment of any job type in the UK. So many young people want to start their careers in the industry. But fewer salons can afford to employ and train them.
Today I brought @KemiBadenoch and some of the Shadow Cabinet ladies to Hornchurch to speak to some of the passionate people running our high street salons.
We have a plan to help, from slashing employer NICs for 21-24 year-olds to taking most of the high street out of business rates. There is more to do and we are grateful to the women we spoke to this #britishbeautyweek for giving us ideas to keep these brilliant businesses at the heart of local communities.
Your regular reminder that the Lib Dems are absolutely counting on a future coalition with the Labour Party.
We wouldn’t have had our best ever @LibDems result without Ed and he has always been a supportive (and astute) leader. I’m focusing on delivering for my constituents, holding the Government to account and making sure Reform and the Tories don’t get anywhere near No 10.

I started going to @Conservatives conference in 70s. Was there at the height of Mrs Thatcher’s power including 1984 when the IRA bombed the Grand hotel in Brighton. @KemiBadenoch and her speech today reminds me of those days both in content and character.
I am optimistic because The Conservatives have learnt from our mistakes. We are going the right way.
We are ready to fight for our values. Ready to win the argument. Ready to govern.
Ready to get Britain working again.
Thank you #CPC26.
For all the skilled oratory of his Conference speech, the fact remains that we are facing billions more in public spending and tax rises at a time when the country can least afford it. #bbcnewsnight
I beg your f***ing pardon!
Bit of turf war at Lib Dem conference 🔶
MP Al Pinkerton tells a fringe: "One of the things that I've been most privileged in doing since I became an MP is I joined something called the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme - and one of the most interesting elements of that scheme is I went to Newbury. Nobody has ever said that Newbury's particularly interesting before. And that's actually a Lib Dem seat!"
Cries of "ooo" prompts the chair to joke "that's one gone". Pinkerton says the Newbury MP, Lee Dillon, will be "having a word with me later".
So beautiful and moving
Last night, 2,977 lights rose above New York Harbor, one for each life lost on September 11, 2001, before forming the Twin Towers against the New York City skyline.
The commemorative installation was created in collaboration with members of the 9/11 community, including family members, survivors and first responders, to mark the 25th anniversary of the attacks.

Huge intervention by Tony Blair. Highly critical of Starmer & Reeves (& Burnham & Streeting). But Blair thinks it mad to change PM without Labour deciding what it wants to do, what the goal is. Most important manifesto by a Labour figure in decades. institute.global/insights/po…

Set a treadmill at 21kph ( max most will go to) and try to run for 30 seconds on it.
That's what he did for 1 hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds.

A fantastically heart warming story. There are still far too few barristers from less than privileged backgrounds. It’s a tough and very expensive road, especially at the beginning. Congratulations to Leonie Hughes

Today is the 33rd anniversary of the day the IRA bombed Warrington town centre and killed my son Tim and 3 yr old Johnathan Ball. Words can never describe how losing a child leaves a huge hole in your heart and your family. Eternal love Tim ❤️❤️

Absolutely correct. I always ask people who insist MPs should be "local", to list their political heroes. So, I ask, how many of them were local MPs? Which is a variation of William Hague's point. If you insist every MP has to be local, you don't give aspirants many options.
A welcome change to the law & poignant on the 5th anniversary of Sarah Everards murder.
Of course it wasn’t the only factor in her case: catastrophic failings in vetting & basic policing also played their part
