Today is the 229th anniversary of the launch of USS Constitution, the ship America calls Old Ironsides.
On October 21, 1797, she slid into Boston Harbor as one of the first six ships of the United States Navy. In the War of 1812, British cannonballs bounced off her thick oak hull and sailors swore her sides were made of iron. The name stuck. She is still a commissioned U.S. Navy ship today, crewed by active-duty sailors, and the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world.

Then he saw the 16-year-old go into the school and went after him. Police say he stopped him before he could kill more. Three children and one teacher are dead. A 7-year-old and another teacher are critically injured. Thank God for that young man. We need more people like that in America. Prayers for the families.

CBS News initially reported, citing federal law enforcement sources, that today’s school shooter “was killed by a good samaritan.” The line was scrubbed and now reads that the murderer “was shot and killed by a bystander.”
The law enforcement source’s direct quote was that the murderer “was killed by a good samaritan who was legally carrying a concealed weapon and followed the shooter.”
Why did CBS News kill that quote in its “update”?
Three children and one adult were killed today by a 16-year-old boy at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Multiple people are hospitalized.
