One of my absolute favourite picture of Sir Patrick Stewart. What a legendary life he lead and never lost his whimsy.

Rest easy, Captain. We have the helm. ✨
This is Webb’s look at Westerlund 1, a super star cluster. Because our galaxy is past its peak of star formation, and because stars live relatively short lives, only a few of these clusters exist to give us clues to that past era.

ALT Image description: A quote by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart. "I've come to believe that the stars have always been in my favor." - Jean-Luc Picard. The image shows a dense cluster of bright stars, each with six large and two small diffraction spikes, due to the telescope’s optics. They have a variety of sizes depending on their brightness and distance from us in the cluster, and different colors reflecting different types of star. Patches of billowing red gas can be seen in and around the cluster, lit up by the stars. Small stars in the cluster blend into a background of distant stars and galaxies on black.

- 3x26/4x1 the best of both worlds
- 4x2 family
- 4x21 the drumhead
- 5x25 the inner light
- 6x10/11 chain of command
- 6x15 tapestry

This one hurts really bad for me.
I grew up with Patrick Stewart. I’m not exaggerating when I say that TNG is the reason I am who I am and why I have the values and morals that I do. Captain Picard taught me everything I know about being a good, decent, empathetic person

Captain Jean-Luc Picard is probably responsible for more of my moral code than any other fictional character. Patrick Stewart was an amazing man. Make it so and rest in peace.

Stumbled across this photo and think it summarizes how we all feel about Patrick Stewart today.

This is a thought I've had for a long time.
If you showed your child all seven seasons of Star Trek: TNG, they would learn everything they needed to learn about life.
Honour.
Friendship.
Loyalty.
Growth.
Adversity.
Leadership.
Respect.
Love.
Trust.
Tact.
Goodness.
Loss.
Camaraderie.
Boundaries.
Grief.
Victory.
Modesty.
Regret.
Problem solving.
Calmness.
Values.
Self-belief.
And so much more.
It would set them up for life, and they would become wonderful adults and better people for having experienced it all.
There was no greater teacher than Captain Jean-Luc Picard for guiding them through all of this.
This is one of the reasons the death of @SirPatStew has hit me so hard.
He and the other members of the cast, through those characters, taught me all of this and then some.
So sad.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

Too many great quotes and inspiring performances to note.
This one, from Insurrection, stays with me for obvious reasons.
Thank you @SirPatStew.
