Great piece from Sam Arbesman: "When software finds its natural size, whatever results from it is a more natural form, perhaps even a more resonant kind of computing." arbesman.substack.com/p/soft…

AI makes infinite software possible: if you want something to be different, you simply ask. Would you like your grocery list to be sorted by aisle? Ask. For programmers, that’s a massive reduction in friction. For non-programmers, it’s a revelation.

Imagine talking to the creators of ChatGPT about the Attention is All You Need paper a few months before its release, and you'll be able to imagine what it's like to talk to Alex Komoroske with me on Live with Tim O'Reilly today at 8 am Pacific/11 Eastern. Alex wrote something called the Resonant Computing Manifesto last year, and he's now building something based on it, which he calls Common Fabric. It's a completely revolutionary approach to making a human-centered version of the agentic future. I've seen the prototypes, and it's something I've dreamed about! We'll be talking the vision, not showing it off yet, but even that will change how you see the future. learning.oreilly.com/live-ev…

LLMs make it possible to create bespoke, perfectly situated software that fits into the nooks and crannies of our lives, but it will require a fundamentally different trust model. I had a fun talk with my friend @FlorianMaganza: practicalpolymath.substack.c…

2/ The walled gardens of apps cost the most where our lives intersect with others’. We’re creating systems that mold around the contours of people’s real lives and relationships. And that requires a new trust model.

The smallest technical decisions become humanity's biggest pivots: The same-origin policy—a well-intentioned browser security rule from the 1990s—accidentally created Facebook, Google, and every data monopoly since. It locks your data in silos—and you stayed where your stuff already is. This dynamic created aggregators. Alex Komoroske (@komorama)—who led Chrome's web platform team at Google and ran corporate strategy at Stripe—saw this pattern play out firsthand. And he's obsessed with the tiny decisions that will shape AI's next 30 years: Whether AI keeps memory centrally or user-controlled? Is AI free/ad-supported or user-paid? Should AI be engagement-maximizing or intention-aligned? How should we handle prompt injection in MCP and agentic systems? Should AI be built with AOL-style aggregation or web-style openness? This episode of @Every's AI & I is a much-watch if you care about the future of AI and humanity

Tonight in NYC, technologists, builders, and thinkers gathered to ask: what would it look like if software left us feeling nourished instead of drained? Introducing the Resonant Computing Lab — a fund dedicated to turning principle into practice. resonantcomputinglab.com

A world of infinite software is post-software. Software will be so pervasive that it can be taken totally for granted. It becomes invisible by becoming ubiquitous.

What if technology didn’t feel so… hollow? Some friends and I just released a manifesto about a world where tech leaves us feeling nourished (along with an evolving list of theses about how we can build it) resonantcomputing.org

Technology is primarily an amplifier, so it's imperative that it amplifies the right thing.

Silicon Valley's lost decade: consumer ceded to aggregators, software "innovation" meant SaaSy CRUD for some vertical niche. We forgot software could be anything else. Infinite software means we can dream again.
