On Exiting Trades Too Early: "The problem with consistently exiting early, especially if you recognize it as a recurring issue, is that it stems from fear: fear of losing or fear of surrendering what you’ve already gained. This is not a healthy mindset for trading. There’s nothing wrong with closing a trade early if you have a valid reason. Exit rules can be triggered while the price is still moving toward your target, and that’s fine. The key distinction is that a proper exit is based on a rule, not an impulse. When your mindset is fixated on results, following rules becomes extremely difficult. You’re more likely to act out of fear—protecting profits and exiting every time the market flinches. For example, if I’m in a long trade and a bearish trade signal develops, I can exit my long trade early and even go short based on that bearish pattern. That’s a valid exit because it’s based on what the market is showing me. There is a new trade signal, that is included in my trading plan, occurring in the opposite direction of my current trade. It’s not an impulse; I’m following a rule that I have. But if no opposing trade signal occurs, and I’m simply searching for a reason to exit, then almost any price movement becomes justification for an early exit. This is a problem. Almost any pullback could convince me to bail. A sharp spike in my favor may make me exit prematurely, as a reversal could be just around the corner (imagined). If the price stalls, I tell myself it’s no longer moving “correctly” and close the trade. [This isn't intentional, but it happens nonetheless.] These are poor exits—not because of what the price did, but because the mindset is focused on the wrong thing to begin with. [Which makes mistakes inevitable.] That mindset—focused solely on fear/results and not losing— distorts reality, making us see and believe things that aren’t truly there. We act based on our imagination— what could happen—which sabotages following our rules [or disrupts our decision-making model]. [The precursor to the mistake was the mindset...so we need to fix the mindset to fix the issue.]" That is what the Trading Fix Book is all about. EURUSD Opening Range Stats Indicate High Double Break Percentage - Use to Your Advantage tradethatswing.com/eurusd-op… Idea for those looking for fewer trades with bigger R:R. EURUSD takes out the opening range high and low 60% of the time. Develop a strategy that targets the other side when the break of one side fails. I don't trade exactly this way, but I do incorporate the concept into some of my trades (targeting the other side of a price structure if the break of one side fails).
