1944 - 2014 - 2022
Russia's genocide of the Crimean Tatars never ended.
On this day in 1944, Stalin deported the entire indigenous Crimean Tatar population from their homeland, Crimea.
Nearly half died in those suffocating cattle cars and during the first 5 years of exile.
82 years later, Russia is still trying to destroy them.
But the Crimean Tatars refuse to surrender.
On this anniversary of Russia's ongoing brutality, I want to introduce you to my new documentary film.
ETCHED IN MEMORY chronicles the relentless resistance and courage of Crimean Tatar activists and refugees fighting against the Russian occupation and working to return Crimea to Ukraine.
They want the world to remember: The war began in Crimea.
And it must end in Crimea.
Screening dates coming soon. Check out the trailer 🔽

If striking 11,000 targets and a months-long blockade failed to produce Iranian collapse or capitulation, what would a “short, intense” military campaign produce—other than Iranian and Houthi retaliation against shipping, pipelines, and airports, another oil price spike, more casualties, and further erosion of public and regional support for the war? If reports like this are just the umpteenth time since the April ceasefire that Trump has threatened escalation to get a “better deal,” more power to him. But if it’s an actual operational plan, it’s likely to prove as counterproductive as the previous rounds.

I'd love an story where the super skilled woman actually IS the chosen one but because misogyny is the people in power insisting some rookie boy is more deserving of that role. I need a movie be a full criticism on this trope.
I feel this must exist I just don't remember it.

I think this is a pretty disgusting miscarriage of justice. I feel for the Zauggs, and I’m sure their heart has broken over their son committing such a heinous crime. That doesn’t excuse his crime though. Krew Zaugg, a 22 year old returned missionary committed a violent sexual assault against a 15 year old girl. It’s not just to be sentenced only to a rider that will have him imprisoned less than a year.
He’s traumatized this girl for years to come, while he has a trip to Hawaii on bail - to get married - all the while this girl is in counseling for her rape. She will have repercussions for the rest of her life. This sentence is too lenient.

I have so many thoughts and opinions on this.
I do not know this mother.
I do not know any details about the family other than what has already been shared.
I could have been the one out in cuffs - many times.
I’ve been a single mom for the past 15 years (since my youngest was 4 mths old). Not by choice.
I too have four kids.
Oldest is 20.
In an effort to survived and support them, I have left my kids home alone (even over night while on work trips). I have left them in the car while I ran into a store. I have let them roam the neighborhood together, without me.
Things that would be totally normal for my childhood are now arrest-able events.
I had a cop on my doorstep about 6 years ago because I let one of my sons ride his bike, helmet on, to Target, a straight shot from our house, sidewalks the entire way.
(By all accounts, the cop who initially called it in was in the wrong, almost hit my son when he had the right of was crossing at a light. His solution was to follow my son into the parking lot, interrogate him, detain him, tell him, “you did nothing wrong. Your mom was in the wrong here” — words I heard directly from his mouth to my son’s ears. Then stole (took without paying) a Lego set and gave it to my son…to what? Make it all better? No, we didn’t keep the Lego set)
That cop at my door step then called CPS when I didn’t agree that it was a negligent decision. A “judgement call” because there is no law to explicitly support his claim.
My kids were interviewed by a stranger (twice, because they messed up the paperwork), asking very personal details about family life.
How likely are they to enlist a police officer in the future? How likely are they to trust “the professionals” after being threatened with foster care by an adult who was supposedly there to protect them?
This crap has to stop.
It’s utterly insane.
Being a parent is hard enough. Society makes it so much harder. You can’t just do what’s best for your kids. You have to factor in the likelihood of have a nosey neighbor call the cops on you because Susan down the street doesn’t think it’s safe for your 6th grader to bike to the nearby park along.
Bodycam footage shows Florida deputies arresting a mother at an airport after authorities say she left her four children, ages 9, 11, 12 and 14, home alone while traveling to Las Vegas for work.
Irene Miller, 50, was taken into custody Friday as she stepped off a plane. Two days earlier, one of her children had called 911 after a dumbbell fell on her 9-year-old brother's head.
When deputies arrived at the family's Kissimmee home, they found the children without adult supervision and had the injured boy taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. Miller now faces four counts of child neglect.

She couldn’t leave them with the father, a domestic abuser. Punishing people who are trying to do their best is easy, I get it. People who make their kids live under a bridge barely get charged.

This is rage-inducing. It’s not “child neglect” to let a 14-year-old babysit. Law enforcement also took these kids to their dad, who’s facing battery charges and has an active restraining order against him. How does that make *any* sense?

The defence has leaned hard on "But He's A Family Man Now" as a plea for leniency.
That tends to be a powerful narrative. In this case it's asking Judge Caproni to ascribe practically miraculously transformational powers to the institution of marriage.
