Ah yes, silly me. How could anyone forget the grave, existential threat the British Empire posed to Gaelic games by way of… an eight-year-old having a kickabout in a park?
Clearly, western civilization hung in the balance.
Thank goodness you clarified that it was abolished in 1971. Nothing screams "agile, forward-thinking cultural preservation" quite like taking sixty-six entire years to figure out that kicking a round ball or doing a quick waltz wouldn't instantly collapse the nation's heritage.
Truly cutting-edge stuff.
Because as we all know, sending vigilantes to lurk behind hedges at soccer pitches to catch teenagers committing high treason with a "foreign" ball wasn't obsessive or parochial at all—it was just high-minded cultural defense.
Carry on patrolling the perimeter, Inspector. Wouldn't want anyone accidentally enjoying two sports before 1972 without official clearance. 🐶♥️🤡

Trump’s 10 historic presidential accomplishments!
Renamed the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
Renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America.
Renamed Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Super Intelligence (SI).
Brought back plastic straws.
Liberated American showerheads.
Fought for stronger toilet flushing.
Took on weak bathroom faucets.
Defended dishwashers from government regulations.
Protected washing machines from efficiency standards.
Ordered the end of penny production.
And all of this in less than two years!
Future generations will surely remember the president who made American showers great again.
Promises made. Promises kept.

Well, well, well...
It turns out Trump has decided to go big and pardon all his cronies who are helping him make America terribly great — and make themselves and him terribly rich. But one rather unpleasant detail has emerged for him.
A presidential pardon protects a person from federal criminal prosecution and punishment for offenses already committed. Meanwhile, the Fifth Amendment gives citizens the right to refuse to testify against themselves. However, that right applies only when there is a real and reasonable risk of criminal prosecution.
Here's the catch: If someone has been fully pardoned for certain acts, they no longer face the legal risk of being convicted for those acts. Consequently, the grounds for invoking Fifth Amendment protection disappear.
As a result, pardoned individuals summoned to testify before Congress may lose their legal right to invoke the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering uncomfortable questions. If they still refuse to testify, they could face contempt of Congress charges.
Of course, this applies only to matters fully covered by the pardon and where no other genuine risk of prosecution remains.
So it's either the pardon or the Fifth Amendment.
Oops.

Yes, this is absolutely crucial. Judge Luttig - a conservative in the old, best sense, has been warning, in close detail about the magnitude of the threat for some time. His prediction is terrifyingly plausible, even though he believes, eventually in a happy ending.

🚨 For years the Telegraph was one of the loudest cheerleaders for hard Brexit and the glorious economic freedom supposedly waiting outside Europe.
Now the Telegraph is owned by a German 🇩🇪 company.
And that German owner is cutting up to 100 jobs as it restructures the paper into a “global, AI-powered” business.
Some of its most hardline Brexit voices are also reported to be among those leaving.
Perhaps there is a lesson here. Markets really are global. Capital really does cross borders.
And shouting “sovereignty” does not stop decisions about British jobs being made somewhere else.
Brexit promised control.
The ownership structure tells a rather different story.

Viajar y no publicar fotos
No quieres depender.
No quieres esperar.
No quieres ilusionarte y acabar herido.
«Me alegra.
