My Royal Navy great grandfather was still rescuing slaves from the ARAB trade in the 1870s. Hundreds of Africans, men, women, children, babies, stuffed into the hulls of boats - no food, no water, stench was unbelieveable.

So Britain changed the law. Brazilian slave ships could now be tried in British courts as pirates. ⚖️
In 1850 the Royal Navy sailed into Brazil's ports, under the guns of the forts. They cut out the slave ships and burned them. 🚢
Emperor Pedro II's government had a choice. War with Britain. Or end the trade. ⚔️
That September, Brazil banned it. Within two years the trade was dead. 🕊️
Yet today only one country is asked to feel ashamed. 🤔

Praying on Trains, Streets, Parks, and Hikes etc/ Religious Clothing
British Values/Norms:
Most people treat faith as a private matter. Praying takes place at home or in a religious building( church, mosque, temple). When you meet someone, you do not automatically know (or particularly care) what they believe or do not believe. Loud public displays of religiosity are considered bad form.
Distinction
Break a law, you get fined; ignore a norm, you lose respect.

Hence, respect for one community is low compared to other international communities. They need a role model, such as the Hong Kong Chinese or Japanese.
Many people move to the UK for a better life. We get that. However, they should try not to make things worse for the Brits.
Please be less insular. Show more concern for the values and opinions of those outside your own religious circle
p.s. This also applies to religious clothing on the high street.
British Norms:
1. Want to be nudist, no problem do it in the garden, in a camp, not on the high street we find it unpleasant.
2 Man wants to wear a dress, no problem do it at home or in the night club. Not on the high street, men cant walk in heels. Its unpleasant.
3. Religious clothing. Wear your garb, at home or in religious building. Not on the high street, its all a bit odd...for our British sensibilities.

A wander in London yesterday. Stood in the third world looking towards the developed world. I took my brother, his wife and their two teenage sons on a lovely tour of London. They live in a beautiful house, in a beautiful village in the countryside in England. I thought it would be interesting to take them for a walk along the whole length of Whitechapel Road. They were shocked. Sure, they knew it wouldn’t be an English location, but they were shocked that it is only Muslim. Most women wore full burqas. There are almost zero white people and zero people who aren’t Muslim and very committed Muslims at that. There is zero diversity. There is full diversity in the way the Labour Party mean it though: the eradication of white people. Whitechapel has always been a melting pot of different cultures, but now it is only Muslim. No other culture exists there. I took my brother and his family to many beautiful places across London, but I did think it was necessary to take them here. I think everyone from England should walk this street and realise what is coming to their towns and villages very soon as the Muslim Home Secretary works as hard and fast as possible to import millions more Muslims who hate us and our way of life. Anyway, it was a lovely sunny day and we saw lots of wonderful places that white British people created.

Five. The Ottoman trade. Raiders sold Eastern Europeans south for three hundred years. Britain made the Sultan ban it in 1854.

It isn't over. Mauritania only made it a crime in 2007. Fifty million people are in slavery today.

This is another terrible decision by this Government.
We were so much happier in the UK when people treated faith as a private matter. When you met someone on the high street, you did not automatically know or particularly care what they believed. Loud public displays of religiosity were considered bad form. These days, there are flashing beacons of religion everywhere, especially in London and other major cities. Back then, if you criticised a group like the Methodists, you never had to worry about facing physical retaliation.

How do seasonal businesses do this?
In Lincs the two biggest sectors are tourism and agriculture.
Both seasonal.
For both income is very focused around certain times.
The idea an arable farmer, a seaside hotel, attraction or holiday park has 1/4 of its annual income by April is laughably ignorant.
Except it’s a deadly serious threat to the businesses’ survival.
This government hates business.
The new changes to drag forward income tax charges mean that many if not most people will be paying income tax on money they haven't earned yet.
Very few business have 1/12 of their profit available to distribute in April. Even if it's quarterly, how many businesses have 1/4 of their annual profit in the bank by the end of June?
If the Treasury knew anything about seasonality or billing cycles, they'd never have proposed this change.

Over a million Europeans ended up in chains in North Africa. Nobody bought them. They were stolen.
The kings of Europe paid ransom. For centuries.
In 1816, Britain stopped paying.
Lord Exmouth. Twenty British ships, six Dutch, against one of the strongest fortresses on earth. 27 August 1816. Nine hours. Fifty thousand cannonballs. 128 British sailors killed.
The next day the Dey signed. Every Christian slave freed. 1,083 people walked out of Algiers in one afternoon.
Nobody came for them... Until we did. ⚓🇬🇧💪
