By @csahockey numbers, Binnington (28.77) was actually slightly ahead of Hellebuyck (27.24) and Demko (19.55) in Goals Saves Above Expected, and Bobrovsky was 17th (9.40) … Panthers backup Anthony Stolarz was 5th (17.71)
Binnington was 3rd in the NHL in goals saved above expected behind Hellebuyck and Demko. He was 6th in save percentage vs. expected. He was 2nd in save percentage on scoring chances. Bob isn't even in the conversation analytically with Binnington, but he does have more wins.

One of NHL’s elite play readers, can be early adjustment period as learns tendencies of teammates but finished last season at +1.3% adjusted save percentage per @csahockey 10th in NHL (min 500 shots), just behind Shesterkin (+1.4%) … 5 wins to 300, an important milestone to him
Not that the veteran netminder needs much introduction, but a brief Jaroslav Halak overview for #Canes fans: • 38 years old • 581 NHL games • Most recently spent time with the Rangers, playing 25 games last season • A career .915 save percentage over 17 seasons

Oilers giving up more of most dangerous scoring chances off rush at 5-on-5 than any other NHL team: 2.86 expected goals against per game off high-danger shots is 32nd and TWICE as many as the top-6 teams ... also 27th on PK, all per @csahockey ... this isn't all about goaltending

How bad were the Canucks defensively last night? Spencer Martin gave up 5 and was still 1.14 goals above expected. The much talked-about 67 shots Nashville gave up last week was a better defensive effort by expected goals and high-danger chances, per @csahockey ... so, not good
