Rust the language may be 1.0, but the flip side of the “crates.io is the standard library” philosophy means the standard library is most definitely not at 1.0.
A bit ago @tbgrieger mentioned that he wears earplugs under his noise cancelling headphones on flights. This is almost as much of an upgrade over the headphones alone as the headphones were over nothing at all. 🤯
As a connoisseur of sports blowouts, I cannot recommend this game enough.

What's your over/under on the last time you get a phone call from an unknown number that you actually need to answer? Thinking things like deliveries, movers, appointments, etc.
I’m still bullish on code reviews but here’s my hot take: mocks and dependency injection are rarely the right tradeoff. I’m continually more convinced that full system integration tests are often the best way to test the glue-y things above library code.

Hill I Will Die On: In a large software project, having 0 TODOs is a non-goal. For example, a common category of TODO is "if we later need this complexity, here's how to do it".

In case you missed it, this is novel work. Txns over partitioned consensus was previously thought to take a minimum of two consensus rounds, but we're proving it can be done in one.
We couldn't find an atomic commit protocol that worked for fast (and ACID compliant) distributed transactions, so we built our own. It's called Parallel Commits, and it halves the latency of all distributed transactions. Read more about it on the blog: cockroa.ch/2qyguq4
I used to be shy about asking for seconds at the farmers marker but now it’s my favorite part. For $10, I just bought enouch peaches for both 8 jars of jam and a full frozen gallon bag 🍑
I moved away from New York City 16 months ago and the food I miss most is ham egg cheese on a roll salt pepper no ketchup. I always figured it would be bagels or a Joe’s plain slice but there you go

How bout this? If you score a goal, or hit a home run, or score a touchdown at the highest level of your sport — a place that took you a lifetime of work to reach — you can do whatever the fuck you want. I’d throw a goddamn parade.
Nailed it. I’ve been trying to put this into words and failing for quite a while now

Kevin Durant went to GSW, won back-to-back championships, back-to-back Finals MVPs, and still people talked about whether he made the team worse/less fun. When it finally became clear the team actually needed him, he rushed himself back. And now he's hurt.
Man.
I'm just so mad.
Hey @DNC young voters have been pretty clear about what the most important issue is to them this cycle. Ignoring it is exactly why they don’t show up on general election day.
Our generation's survival is at stake. It’s time for the @DNC to act like it and host a climate debate.
Sign the petition. We'll deliver it to their office next week.

Life hack: Always offer to help your friends move. If they take you up on it, it’s a great bonding experience. This is even more true once you’ve all reached the age of paying for movers
