#DemeritPoints #Thread 🚨 Yesterday we announced that Oct 1st will be the commencement date for the Demerit Point system and the suspension of licenses under the Road Traffic Act.
The lawlessness on our roads has become routine and as we push for behavioral reform, the Transport Ministry has partnered with the @JamaicaConstab and the Ministry of Justice to implement the long overdue Demerit Point System.
The Govt has outlined how this will be used and it will all be used for Housing, Roof repairs, Supplies etc.
The transparency exists. The information exists.

I think the larger issue with the public is there doesn’t appear to be any transparency with the spending of donations received. Even if people received only $15K due to the amount of applicantions, overall transparency would silence a lot of the noise.
Realistically. Tell me how you blv I could comment on this or respond without breaching terms of the negotiations.
We have very experienced local and international experts working with the Govt on all possible outcomes.
A word to the wise is sufficient.

Ah, how's things looking so far in terms of interests from other entities?
Without encroaching on confidentiality n the sorts.
Yes and that was done and the letter was shared on this platform. I was also very clear in stating that negotiations would be ongoing including local and international consultants.
I have shared the letter for your information below.

You tell me one thing he said thats a fact and I not only apologize, I call him myself and do it. I publicly.

Imagine being attacked for speaking facts with countless people living in poor conditions with no roofs over their heads
Only persons benefiting from grants are persons at the top of the food chain ⛓️💥 Expensive rentals and high salaries 😏
Today marks the official reopening of Black River Hospital following damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.
Prime Minister Dr. the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, alongside Minister of Health and Wellness, Hon. Dr. Christopher Tufton, and South Western St. Elizabeth MP, Hon. Floyd Green, will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour the facility later today.
Stay tuned for more updates.

It may be better received if the AudG speaks on this and not the Govt.
Minister of Social Security, Pearnel Charles Jr., says the verification issues encountered under the ROOFS programme validates the need for the integration of the National Identification System to support the efficient delivery of welfare.

Beenie Man has raised questions about a Beenie percent of the recovery spend: 2%. The amount dwarfs in comparison to the overall relief budget but the clarity must be given for the record.
There are persons who believe that the $1.7 Billion received in Donations should ALL be given in grants. That is okay.
The problem is that the Government has given more than the amount received in donations away in grants.
The ROOFS programme has close to 118,000 applications. That is less than $15,000.00 JMD per person if the $1.7Bn is handed out in grants. The Govt will be spending over $22 Billion Dollars on the ROOFS Programme alone. More than 10x the amount received in donations.
$500 Million was allocated to MSME's as grants. $192 Million in Agricultural Grants. This does not include the rehabilitation of schools, roads, clearing debris and rebuilding other infrastructure that was damaged including bridges and public services.
"The people who should get the money" is a gross misunderstanding of the relief programme. The $1.7Bn does not include the 2700+ container homes that are to be completed and installed.
The $1.7 Billion is approximately 2% of what is being spent on the relief and recovery process.
As we pause today to pray and reflect on one year since the passing of Hurricane Melissa, the third strongest recorded hurricane, I feel compelled to remind those in the unaffected areas that the pain suffering and dislocation of thousand of 🇯🇲Jamaicans continues despite the best efforts of the Govt and so many Jamaicans and organizations across the world 🌎.
Petrojam has provided billions in protection since the fuel crisis started.
Thats more than the public got from the previous government. As a matter of fact the entire $3.3Bn hedged was a lost premium and to this date, the energy stabilization fund and the approximately $6.4Bn was never set up.
An opportunity cost of $6.4Bn per year on top of the $3.3Bn lost in premium.

Join me in wishing Mrs Monroe Ellis congratulations on her National Awards. Mrs Munro-Ellis celebrated 18 years as Auditor General of Jamaica.
She was appointed to the prestigious United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) in 2025, another in a long list of achievements during her tenure.

Today I am humbled to be conferred with the Order of Jamaica 🇯🇲 in recognition of decades of national service. I must acknowledge my family who deserve this honour having sacrificed and toiled with me over many years in representational politics. First I must thank God Almighty who continues to guide and protect me. His blessings are more than I can thank Him for.
I thank my family, friends, parliamentary colleagues and the faithful people of Portland who continue to support me.
I thank the many public sector workers and civil servants who continue to work diligently and patiently with me as I build upon the vision of a better and more prosperous Jamaica for all.
Finally, I thank our Prime Minister who has been a friend and inspiration through the good times and bad.
Sharing my Op-Ed in today's Jamaica Observer. For those who wish to have answers about the purpose and mandate of NaRRA.
In his latest series of posts on social media platforms regarding the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority (NaRRA), Opposition Leader Mark Golding asked a question that reveals a fundamental, dangerous misunderstanding of modern disaster risk management:
“Why is NaRRA about legacy projects and not Hurricane Melissa recovery?”
