Make no mistake: Democrats are united in a big blue wave For The People. To lower costs, protect healthcare and defend our democracy, we must elect a Democratic House and Senate. I urge everyone across America to support our Democratic Senate nominees, including @AbdulElSayed. Every seat matters. Every vote counts. Let’s win together! -NP

🚨🇵🇱COUP UNDERWAY IN POLAND! PM Donald Tusk has just sent police to storm Constitutional Tribunal building in Warsaw in the middle of the night. Tusk waited until President Karol Nawrocki left the country before ordering the police takeover. Nawrocki was halfway to Senegal when he abruptly turned his plane around and rushed back to Poland to confront the unfolding crisis. The EU, which backs Donald Tusk, has STILL NOT issued a statement on this unprecedented crisis or condemned the attempted coup.

One year after Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Westmoreland, leaving dozens of families homeless, several displaced residents remain stuck in an emergency shelter with growing frustration over delayed relief. Among them are more than a dozen people — mostly families — currently housed in the teacher’s cottage at Petersfield High School. They were relocated to the structure after initially being sheltered in the main school building. jamaicaobserver.com/2026/10/…

A YEAR AFTER HURRICANE MELISSA, ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE NOT ENOUGH. JAMAICANS NEED DELIVERY. Speaking on All Angles, Senator Cleveland Tomlinson questioned the Government’s handling of the hurricane recovery, pointing to missed targets, delayed programmes and a lack of coordination. The figures tell a troubling story: • Container homes: 236 procured against a revised target of 2,500, with none delivered. • Roof repairs: Approximately 550 completed despite more than 100,000 people being assessed. • MSME support: 343 days before a structured support programme was announced. • Shelters: 136 Jamaicans are still living in shelters one year after the hurricane. • Schools: Delays in repairs, with questions raised about the Government’s explanation of contractor shortages and payment delays. Senator Tomlinson argued that Jamaica has yet to see a coherent recovery strategy, describing the Government's approach as fragmented, with repeated announcements but limited delivery. One year later, the question remains: where is the coordinated action Jamaicans were promised?

While Jamaica reports economic growth and low unemployment, many citizens continue to struggle with rising living expenses, low wages and food insecurity. Senator Cleveland Tomlinson, Opposition Deputy Spokesman for Productivity, Efficiency and Competitiveness, discussed the gap between economic growth and the realities facing everyday Jamaicans and what needs to change to make growth more meaningful. #SmileJamaica

ONE YEAR LATER, WHERE IS THE RECOVERY? On All Angles last night, Senator Cleveland Tomlinson highlighted the gaps between the Government’s hurricane recovery promises and the progress on the ground. From 5,000 promised container homes, reduced to 2,500, with just 236 procured and none delivered, to more than 100,000 people assessed under the roof repair programme but only approximately 550 roofs repaired, the figures raise serious questions. Senator Tomlinson also questioned why it took 343 days for a structured support programme for MSMEs to be announced, and pointed to the absence of a coherent, coordinated national recovery strategy. One year after Hurricane Melissa, Jamaicans deserve answers, action and a recovery effort that reaches those who need it most.
