You can see the penny dropping for the first time ever for poor Dada. Why did no one explain it like this to him before? All that stuff about using rates to fund maintenance instead of borrowing makes so much sense, but no one told him you can do that.
Helen Zille draws a comparison between Cape Town's drought and Johannesburg's water challenges, arguing that Joburg's supply problems are linked to failing infrastructure and water losses rather than a lack of rainfall. She puts non-revenue water losses at 48%. #Elections2026 #DStv403

My friends and I were talking about the upcoming elections over the weekend.
And how incredibly important they are.
We did a bit of Googling and found out that South Africa has lost an estimated R2.1 trillion to corruption and mismanagement since the ANC has been in power.
That's R8 million every hour.
Every. Single. Hour.
Imagine the schools, hospitals, jobs and infrastructure we could have had.
I wrote this and published it on my Facebook. My editor believed that it deserves to be in an article too. It's a long read. And it's incredibly sobering. But also... hopeful.
I received a comment on the original post from a follower who was not going to vote because they believed their vote didn't matter. After reading this, they have decided that there is no choice but to vote.
Who knows, maybe reading this will inspire you too... or sharing it, may inspire others.

Translation: if the ANC loses JHB, and the DA the dominant partner in a coalition, we will immediately put it under administration so they look responsible. We obviously haven’t done this yet, because we were running the show and wanted to gift the DA an absolute mess.

Uncaring incompetence, selfish indifference sulking behind identity conflict. Leaders insisting on their own best interests before a job they were never capable of doing well. Our politics is performance art, a price we pay for the sins of the past
Driving along Jan Smuts Avenue last night. Aside from a few pockets of streetlight, the roads were shrouded in darkness. With rubbish overflowing and water off in large parts of the city, @CityofJoburgZA is not even making a pretence of governance ahead of elections.

So the CT Mayor's warning against a disastrous ANC / EFF coalition in Cape Town is now "swart gevaar"?
In 2009 the DA's 'Stop Zuma' campaign was also called "swart gevaar ".
What would SA look like today if people just stopped viewing everything through the prism of 'race'?

He has changed the face of South African cricket. We are thankful to what he brings to the table. This victory means a lot to him, and to his family. This guy leads from the front. Extortionists!!! Thats what you all are. I cannot wait to see the repercussions of this. Imagine wanting 30% of a business you contributed bugger-all to, that provides employment, and pays taxes, besides providing a service we desperately need. If you think that by doing this you will get your filthy hands on 30% @elonmusk's Starlink, you are sadly mistaken.Morons!!!! 🇿🇦

Here's useless Lesufi stealing credit for a transformer that was fund-raised by the DA, installed by the DA and unveiled by Helen Zille just two days ago. This after they tried to stop her. What kind of scumbag would do something so blatantly dishonest?

I suggest you shut up and stay in your lane. If your party governed the way the DA does, the poor you claim to care about wouldn't be living is such dire conditions and our fiscus wouldn't have been looted dry. 🇿🇦
Cape Town has localized sewage overflows in some Philippi informal settlements due to blockages, dumping, and land constraints. The City invests heavily (R1.5bn Philippi sewers, thousands of toilets yearly) and responds. Green Drop 2025 rates CT 75% (no critical plants) vs Joburg’s 49% (half critical, rivers polluted for years). CT leads metros on free basic services and access. Issues are not whole-township daily filth engineered by the DA, nor absent in Joburg.
