Every year, zoonotic diseases cause an estimated 2.5 billion illnesses worldwide. That’s why One Health Day matters.
Smallholder farmers depend on their livestock, so keeping animals healthy protects their incomes and the food they produce for their communities.
Through its One Health programmes, Heifer International trains community agro-vet entrepreneurs to deliver animal health services in their own villages. Farmers learn to recognise zoonotic diseases, produce meat hygienically and use antibiotics responsibly, along with sustainable land management, organic fertiliser use and proper waste disposal. 🌱
Which partnerships could help bring One Health practices to more smallholder farmers? We'd welcome your perspective, and we're open to partnership conversations. 🤝
