Our recent work @EmmaMcBryde @JamesTrauer @justin_denholm demonstrates how spatial analysis and mathematical models can be used to provide policy guidance to share funding between #TBhotspot regions and #nonhotspot regions for active #TB case finding- doi.org/10.1016/j.epidem.202…

Great work by @debebesh sciencedirect.com/science/ar… Hard to know where the real hotspots of TB are, but lots of potential for epidemic impact with targeted interventions.
Excited to see our work @EmmaMcBryde @JamesTrauer @justin_denholm-Methods used in the spatial analysis of tuberculosis epidemiology has been selected as one of the best #TB research published in the journal

In our new paper in @SciReports, @debebesh, @petedodd24, Richard Hayes, and I show that sex-assortative mixing plays a role in sex disparities in #TB burden, and this is particularly important under invasion dynamics. nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

ALT Influence of assortativity (ρρ) at invasion and equilibria for different Rm/RfRm/Rf. The effect of ρρ on: (a) R0R0; (b) M:F ratio during early exponential growth from the disease-free equilibrium; (c) M:F ratio in TB prevalence at endemic equilibrium; (d) TB prevalence at endemic equilibrium. In (c, d), ββ and αα were solved to give R0=2R0=2 and fix Rm/RfRm/Rf, ρρ was varied, and π=1π=1. Other parameters were the means of priors in Table 1.
What is the impact of assortative gender mixing on sex disparities in #TB burden? Read a new publication from us -

Sep 19, 2018: a special happy day in my Ph.D. path. Work accepted in 'BMC medicine' only hours after my 'first ever' paper on mathematical modeling get published @UniMelb
found this from JamesCook University page. Memory from the 2017 Australasian Tropical health conference at Cairns @AITropHealthMed.
Things going much complex:
Exact Bayesian computation vs
Approximate Bayesian Computation for model fitting
