Bruh the only game I used EGS for is Rocket League, because you can't get it through Steam anymore and I've already invested a lot of time into it, but short of that, I don't fuck with Epic. They could release a big game I want free on EGS and I'd still rather just purchase it on Steam.
I don't like Epic and I REALLY don't like Tim Sweeney, so I've got two big reasons not to support EGS.

I’ve come to the realization that Tim Sweeney is the Elon Musk of the gaming industry—and no, I don’t mean that as a compliment.
Certain groups of people really love them because they’re both CEOs of very successful tech companies who are heavily endorsing Generative AI, but in reality they’re both chuds trying to cope with the fact that the rest of us who don’t worship them think that they’re massive losers.

You've done more damage to developers with your pro-Ai crusade that even if a developer doesn't use gen ai or ai tools in future UE6 games, the customers will label the game as - made with ai - because its UE and because of how you've been gloating about pushing AI.
You just don't realize it (or perhaps not even care) because you are solely focused how fast users will be able to generate content for fortnite by pushing development with Ai. And that is your entire incentive in this debacle isn't it not.
You fought Apple, Google, etc so more of the spending people did on Fornite would return back to Epic rather than the platforms having a bigger cut and you did it in the name of "this is for the developers" façade.
This is all about money at the end of the day and everybody can see it now.

Tim owns a whole damn Ai-friendly platform that champions Ai 'devs.' They could just focus on it. Yet both he and the ai 'devs' are mad at Steam about having them label their titles. Epic is right there. You've got a baked and ready store-front that caters to you. But they both know that Epic doesn't generate nearly the same amount of revenue for developers that Steam does because the customers (us) prefer and use Steam over Epic by a vast amount even with Epic offering a higher revenue split.
There's so many take aways from this, but the one that cracks me up is that Tim comes off like a husband who can't satisfy his wife (ai 'devs), so he's mad at the dude (Steam) who says he'll only bang his wife if she meets his standards which neither the wife or husband want to meet.

As someone who works with AI extensively, I can say that it is a very powerful tool. But this take is spot on…Tim Epic is and always has been a disingenuous little rat and all his quixotic fights (ie vs Apple for how they run their app store) are self-serving at best…
Tim Sweeney getting upset at Steam's AI disclosure is an endless stream of funny content.
He claims it's bad for developers, but what he actually means is it's bad for Epic Games. Because Epic are literally building UE6 around generative AI, which they say will play a "central role"
If generative AI is good, and developers are proud to use it, there shouldn't be an issue disclosing it. But the problem is gamers don't agree, and some actively avoid games using AI. This in turn will mean avoiding UE6 games using their fancy gen AI integrations, which hurts Epic's business model.
It's another one of those things where companies are not on the same page as gamers. Gamers want engine developers to solve problems they are having (eg poor performance, traversal stutter, visual artefacts). They don't want those problems to remain unsolved while Epic makes it easier to fill storefronts with low quality AI-made games.
Transparency is always good for consumers and shouldn't be sacrificed. Ever. Why hide the use of a feature if you think the feature is good?
If it's a "hate mob" issue, maybe time to reassess the messaging. Prove that AI use is good, instead of hiding it. Because if it's actually good, it should be easy to explain and show why. The work speaks for itself with these things.
If Epic are ever wondering why gamers love Steam and avoided the Epic Games Store for so long, it's because Valve continue to deliver what gamers want. Being hostile to gamers doesn't work.
