1984 was a crime against the Sikh community, and the Congress carries that guilt. Dr Manmohan Singh apologised for it in Parliament in 2005. The UPA then acted on the Nanavati Commission's recommendations with a ₹714.76 crore rehabilitation package, of which more than ₹534 crore reached the states. Compare that with the Modi government's 2014 package: ₹5 lakh promised (only for the kin of those killed), with an estimated cost of ₹166 crores. Rajnath Singh handed out 17 cheques in Tilak Vihar, and the rest were left waiting on "verification". Later, the BJP's own chairman of the National Commission for Minorities claimed that "no government can pay full compensation to all victims." Twelve years into this government, he also conceded that none of the 944 families resettled in Tilak Vihar have ownership rights, and ₹13 crore in power dues still hangs over them. In 2022, BJP MP Parvesh Verma told the Lok Sabha that the jobs promised to victims' children had never been delivered. The ₹5,000 pension for widows, promised in the 2025 Delhi election, is still awaited. Job letters come out in batches of 19 and 36, always handed out by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in front of cameras. Today the BJP marches through the same neighbourhoods it has left waiting for over a decade. The farcical counter-march is an insult to the legacy of 1984. Reducing the grief of those who lost their loved ones to a political stunt trivialises one of the darkest chapters in our history.

When Dhruv Rathee called out Aditya Dhar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga for glorifying violence and propaganda through films like Dhurandhar, the right-wing went after him with abuse. And now we're witnessing the kind of consequences that come from normalising hatred and glorifying violence. But In India questioning cinema is a bigger crime than questioning the mindset it promotes.

Sam Altman thinks RAM sitting in personal computers is a waste when it could be put to better use in data centers. Weird. I was just thinking that all those billions sitting in billionaires’ bank accounts could be put to much better use in our communities.

🔹Why are we holding this impeachment proceeding in a garden? 👉Because we have no other option. Every single institution is closed to us. I don't think anything like this has ever happened in history: the entire Opposition sitting in a garden to discuss the impeachment of the Chief Election Commissioner of India. : LoP Shri @RahulGandhi on the Public Impeachment of CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Pardon my French but this is absolute bullshit. This so-called PIL should have been dismissed with exemplary costs. Instead, notice has been issued. Can anyone just get up & ask for a witch-hunt against a private citizen using the judiciary now? If this is going to be a precedent, then there’s a LONG list of names. Stay strong brother @SauravDassss. This is clear retaliation for exposing the rotten parts of our judiciary. With you 100%.

The final game is now clear. Large-scale disenfranchisement, and then linking various public subsidy benefits to new voter ID cards, (not Aadhar or other docs). So they hold a life-and-death power over you now, once you are removed from SIR lists. Their aggression in a mala-fide SIR is understandable from this. #SIR #EPCI #Aadhar

October 31, 1984. I was 19 and had gone for a hair cut in Mumbai when we got the news that Indira Gandhi had been assassinated. It was a shock to the system: she had towered over public life for two decades like no other . In 2007, we did a nationwide poll on the 60th anniversary of Indian Independence and Indira Gandhi emerged as the politician with the highest recall value. Indiraji in North India, Indira Amma in the South, through the highs of 1971 and the lows of 1975, she quite uniquely remains firmly embedded in the public imagination. 🙏🇮🇳

Hello @nsitharaman Ji, Dragging Congress's historical failures into every debate is an excuse to escape accountability. Yes, Congress made mistakes. Yes, there were banking scandals, political interference and questionable lending decisions. Nobody is asking you to give Congress a clean chit. But does that automatically make the BJP government competent, transparent or corruption-free? You cannot spend years blaming previous governments while refusing to take responsibility for your own failures. If IDBI needed ₹25,000 crore of taxpayers' money to revive it, don't present that as some extraordinary achievement. It is taxpayers' money, not money from the pockets of BJP leaders. And what about today's banking sector? What about corporate loan write-offs, NPAs, corporate insolvencies, banking governance, political-business connections and accountability for financial irregularities? Why is there selective outrage? A White Paper is not a certificate of good governance. Historical failures are not a licence for present-day incompetence. Congress's failures do not make BJP's decisions automatically right. Indians deserve answers from the government in power today, not endless lectures about what happened decades ago. Stop treating every legitimate question as an opportunity to blame Congress. GOVERNANCE IS ABOUT PERFORMANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT PERMANENT WHATABOUTERY!
We all know how @INCIndia has used Banks and financial institutions as personal entities and pressured bank employees to extend loans at their whim, bypassing prudent lending norms. Let me list a few instances. - In 1957, Haridas Mundra got money from LIC due to influence by the Congress leaders. - In 1976, Indira Gandhi's government removed SBI Chairman R.K. Talwar after he refused political pressure to relax lending conditions for a company linked to Sanjay Gandhi's circle. - Sanjay Gandhi pressured the Central Bank of India over loans to Maruti. - B. Janardhana Poojary, MoS Finance under Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi — pressured bank employees to issue loans in the 1980s. - Pawan Kumar Bansal, as a minister in the UPA, pressured Canara Bank to give loans to his family-linked businesses. The IDBI Bank was handed over to us in poor shape, as IDBI itself was forced to lend to large business groups with close connections to @INCIndia leaders such as Videocon, Winsome, ABG Shipyard, Kingfisher, etc. These turned into bad loans, causing huge losses for IDBI Bank, which we recognised. The NDA govt led by Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi revived the IDBI bank through professionalism, prudence and recapitalisation of more than Rs 25,000 crores. The IDBI Bank is now poised for its next phase of growth. All due process has been followed in the IDBI Bank strategic restructuring, and we have already clarified this yesterday. Check this: pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.… Many more instances of blatant scams and economic mismanagement have been covered in the White Paper on the Indian Economy released in February 2024. It remains relevant even now. Read here: bsmedia.business-standard.co… Your lies with respect to Rafale had failed and were exposed. You had to apologise. The same will happen here. Congress-era banking had a phonebook for the powerful and a rulebook for the common citizens. The era of 'connection and setting banking' is over. Common people now have easy access to loans, and employees are not under pressure to extend loans over the phone calls.

Important: Here’s something that a LOT of people don’t know about what’s actually going on with Delhi Police. CJP’s Saurav Das & Ashutosh Ranka have been sent to 2 more days of judicial custody in Tihar Jail. By a judicial court? NO. They have been kept in Tihar Jail for the last 6 days on the order of a Special Executive Magistrate (SEM). Who is an SEM? He is an ACP-rank (junior) police officer of Delhi Police appointed by the state govt. Therefore, Delhi Police arrested Saurav & Ashutosh & now a Delhi Police ACP (acting as SEM) is keeping them in jail. There’s no FIR against them. There’s also no judicial order. Delhi Police are the accusers & well as the judge when it comes to keeping them in jail. That’s how messed up it is.
